Meet FLO WILLAP: The Swedish Artist Redefining Love Through Music with Emotional Lyrics and Atmospheric Melodies

From the picturesque streets of Uppsala, Sweden, emerges an artist whose sound transcends borders and genres. Meet Gustav William Nordlund, better known by his stage name FLO WILLAP, a Swedish rapper, singer, producer, and engineer. At just 20 years old, FLO WILLAP has carved out a unique niche in the music world with his eclectic mix of 80s-inspired dance-pop, modern hip-hop, and dark R&B. His songs, often centered around the themes of love and relationships, are infused with emotional depth and atmospheric melodies that leave listeners captivated.

A Journey from Beats to the Mic

FLO WILLAP’s musical journey began humbly in 2019 when he started out as a producer, crafting beats that would eventually lay the foundation for his career. “I started recording myself on my beats, and everything changed,” he recalls. By 2020, he had released his first single, which bore the unmistakable influence of artists like Juice WRLD, Trippie Redd, and Roddy Ricch. These early melodic hip-hop tracks resonated deeply with audiences, setting the stage for what was to come.

From 2020 to 2022, FLO WILLAP consistently dropped a string of melodic hip-hop tracks, solidifying his reputation as a rising star. But for him, staying in one lane was never the plan. “I started experimenting with new genres,” he says. The result? A shift into pop songs inspired by the nostalgic sounds of the 80s, blended seamlessly with modern vibes. This experimentation showcased his versatility as an artist and widened his appeal.

Hits That Tug at the Heartstrings

FLO WILLAP’s music is deeply personal, often reflecting his emotions and experiences with love and relationships. His 2023 single, Love Sick,” struck a chord with listeners worldwide. “It’s about that feeling when you’re just tired of relationships and love,” he explains. The track’s raw honesty, coupled with its infectious melody, has made it a standout in his growing discography.

But FLO WILLAP’s ability to adapt doesn’t stop there. As he continues to evolve, he’s delving into the sultry world of R&B. Drawing inspiration from the likes of Brent Faiyaz, Tory Lanez, and PARTYNEXTDOOR, his upcoming R&B project promises to be another exciting chapter. The first single from this project, ENVIOUS,” is set to drop on December 27, and fans are eagerly anticipating its release.

A Sound Like No Other

What sets FLO WILLAP apart is his unique ability to blend genres seamlessly. Whether it’s the nostalgic flair of 80s-inspired dance-pop or the brooding vibes of dark R&B, his music feels both fresh and timeless. His lyrics, often centered around the complexities of love, are relatable yet deeply introspective. This emotional honesty, paired with atmospheric melodies, has made his music resonate with a global audience.

Behind the scenes, FLO WILLAP is a master of his craft. As a producer and engineer, he has complete creative control over his sound. This hands-on approach allows him to push boundaries and experiment freely, resulting in a sound that’s unmistakably his own.

We had the privilege of interviewing FLO WILLAP. Here are excerpts from the interview.

Hi, It’s great to have you with us today! Please share about yourself with our readers.

Hi, I am a 20 years old Swedish singer, rapper, producer, and engineer from Uppsala, Sweden. I make hip-hop, R&B, and pop. The single I released earlier this year is called “Love Sick“, and it’s about that feeling when you are tired of relationships and love.

Please tell us about your journey.

I started as a producer, making beats, in 2019. Eventually, I started recording myself on my beats. In 2020, I released my first single, which was heavily influenced by artists like Juice WRLD, Trippie Redd, and Roddy Ricch. From 2020 to 2022, I released multiple melodic hip-hop songs. Then I started trying out new genres and released pop songs inspired by the 80s, mixed with a modern vibe. At the moment, I am working on an R&B project, with the first single dropping on December 27 called “ENVIOUS“. I have found inspiration for the R&B songs from Brent Faiyaz, Tory Lanez, and PARTYNEXTDOOR.

What are the strategies that helped you become successful in your journey?

I have found many people on Instagram that I have connected with for collaborations, and it’s also on my social media that I have managed to grow a fanbase. Spotify has also been a big part, with the playlists that Spotify has. And the most important thing is to make great music.

Any message for our readers?

I am excited to share my new projects with my fans, both R&B and pop songs. And I will always mix in some hip-hop sometimes. This new R&B project is something unique, and I have been working hard to create a new sound.

Thank you so much for giving us your precious time! We wish you all the best for your journey ahead!
