In the diverse world of music, few artists showcase a spectrum of evolution as vividly as Zach, the creative force behind MadTragic. Known for his bold transitions across various music genres, Zach has carved a niche in the alt-rap pop scene, blending his unique sound with a mission to promote mental health awareness. From the aggressive tones of extreme metal to the introspective vibes of alt-pop, his journey is a testament to personal and artistic growth.
From Metal Frontman to Alt-Pop Innovator
Zach’s musical career began in the high-energy, intense world of extreme metal, where he was the frontman for bands like Building the Architect and Monogamizer. These experiences laid a robust foundation, characterized by powerful performances and a deep connection with the audience, elements that he carried forward into his subsequent musical endeavors.
However, life’s responsibilities and personal growth led Zach to explore different musical paths. The birth of his child marked a significant turning point, prompting him to leave the metal scene and venture into more subdued singer-songwriter pursuits under the alias Casual Ammo. This phase was crucial as it bridged his heavy metal past and his future in alt-pop, allowing Zach to hone a style that blends lyrical introspection with melodic accessibility.
MadTragic: Merging Depth with Pop
MadTragic emerged as Zach’s latest musical avatar, channeling his diverse influences and experiences into a sound that’s distinctively his. With MadTragic, Zach aims to infuse the pop music landscape with depth and introspection, addressing complex themes such as mental health—a topic close to his heart. This project is not only an artistic outlet but also a platform to raise awareness and connect with listeners on a more profound level.
His latest single, “Break More,” exemplifies this approach. An 18-minute freestyle epic, the track showcases Zach’s improvisational skills against a backdrop of a meticulously crafted beat. The length of the song, unconventional in the pop genre, reflects his refusal to conform to traditional structures, preferring instead to let the creative process dictate the outcome. The track is a bold statement in a music industry that often favors formula over creativity.
Looking Ahead: The Future of MadTragic
As MadTragic, Zach is not just making music; he’s creating a movement. With his second album set to release in June 2024, anticipation is building among fans and critics alike. This upcoming project promises to further explore the themes of mental health and personal struggle, packaged within Zach’s signature sound that fans have come to adore.
The road ahead for Zach is filled with opportunities to impact the music industry and society positively. His journey from a metal frontman to a proponent of alt-pop infused with real-world issues is not just a career transformation but a mission to make music that truly matters. MadTragic is poised to be a beacon for those who seek solace in music that resonates with their deepest thoughts and feelings.

We had the pleasure of interviewing the Music Artist. Here are excerpts from the interview:
Hi, Please introduce yourself and tell us what you do.
I am Zach; I’ve been producing music for about ten years now but only doing the weird alt-rap pop stuff for the last two as MadTragic. Previously, I was in the Extreme Metal scene as the frontman for Building the Architect and Monogamizer. After leaving metal to raise a child, I did singer-songwriter stuff as Casual Ammo, which eventually evolved into MadTragic.
MadTragic is my attempt to make pop music with depth and to raise awareness for mental health.
Please tell us about your latest single
My latest single is Break More, which is a lot less pretentious than what I’m about to describe it as… Yes, it’s an 18-minute-long freestyle, but hey. It’s a lot of fun and I just couldn’t bring myself to edit it down. The beat is also killer, and it was already 18 minutes since I was done building it, so I used it as a sort of test for my improv skills. Most of the beats I make are long like this, and I end up cutting them down drastically before settling on a mix for vocals. Album number 2 coming in June 2024
What strategies contributed to your success?
Success? uhhh that’s yet to be determined because i’m not sure if I’ll ever consider any of my ventures as fully explored or completed. But, to answer your question less modestly, the key to my success is my friend’s unwavering confidence in me and their ability to keep me going even during those moments when I feel like nothing I do is worth anyone’s time.
