Intiaz Haniff, known in the music world simply as Inti, has breathed new life into his work with the release of his double-single/EP, “Redux: Death Letter / Stop Breaking Down.” This garage/alternative/indie rock project showcases Inti’s evolution as an artist, presenting a raw, lo-fi sound that harkens back to the gritty essence of his primary inspiration, The White Stripes.
“Redux” stands as a testament to Inti’s growth and commitment to his craft, featuring reimagined versions of two covers he initially recorded in 2023. The new recordings, characterized by the distinct sound of acoustic drums and fresh vocals, offer a more authentic and powerful listening experience compared to their electronic drum counterparts.
From Electronic Beginnings to Acoustic Revival
Inti’s musical journey began when he started playing the drums. By 2023, he was not only drumming but also diving into the world of music production. Using an electronic drum kit and his computer mic, Inti released his first covers, including “Death Letter” and “Stop Breaking Down,” which were well-received by his growing fanbase.
However, Inti felt that something was missing. The electronic drum kit, while convenient, lacked the raw energy and depth he craved. This realization led him to purchase his first set of acoustic drums in February 2024. With the help of the talented Frank Perez, who assisted in achieving that coveted dirty garage sound, Inti re-recorded his earlier covers, resulting in the June 2024 release of “Redux.”
The Impact of Authentic Sound
The difference between the original recordings and the “Redux” versions is palpable. The acoustic drums add a layer of authenticity and vibrancy that was absent before. Inti’s vocals, recorded with better equipment and a more experienced hand, bring a new dimension to the tracks. The lo-fi production, a deliberate choice to honor his inspirations, creates a nostalgic yet fresh listening experience.
The EP opens with “Death Letter,” a cover that retains the haunting blues essence of the original while infusing it with a modern indie rock twist. The new drum track provides a solid backbone, driving the song forward with an intensity that was previously unattainable. Similarly, “Stop Breaking Down” benefits immensely from the acoustic overhaul, with a rhythmic drive and vocal clarity that elevate the track to new heights.
Looking Ahead: Inti’s Musical Vision
Born in Miami on September 9, 2003, Inti’s journey from a novice drummer to a budding music producer and recording artist is nothing short of inspiring. His dedication to refining his sound and his willingness to experiment with new techniques are qualities that promise a bright future in the music industry.
Inti’s musical style, deeply influenced by The White Stripes, is characterized by its raw energy and emotional honesty. His ability to merge garage rock’s gritty aesthetics with modern production techniques allows him to create music that is both nostalgic and innovative. As he continues to evolve, fans can expect more boundary-pushing projects that stay true to his roots while exploring new sonic landscapes.

We had the privilege of interviewing the Artist. Here are excerpts from the interview:
Hi, Please introduce yourself and tell us what you do.
Hi! It’s nice to meet you! I’m Intiaz Haniff, but please call me Inti! I’m an actor and musician, but by no means am I a professional at either.
Please tell us about your latest Music.
My latest double-single is a rerecording of two covers that I released in 2023. When I started music, I recorded with an electronic drum kit and my computer mic. This time around, I recorded with my new acoustic drumset, and equipment with the incredible Frank Perez (Instagram: @frank_recording_music). He helped me get that dirty garage sound that I aspired to get from my music in the first place, and I couldn’t be happier!
Please tell us about your journey.
I was inspired by my favorite band, the White Stripes, to begin learning about music. I purchased a set of electronic drums in 2023 and taught myself to play in a style inspired by Meg White. Of course, the values and standards the band had were something I tried to adapt and emulate as well, so I learned to mix the music myself (albeit not very well). I got a set of acoustic drums in 2024, though, and I’ve never gone back since! I hope to improve and keep improving, but I think I’ve finally reached a place where I can say with full confidence that I’m decent at drumming. Singing hasn’t always been my strong spot, either, but I think I performed my best on this new recording.
What are the strategies that helped you become successful in your journey?
I wouldn’t say I’m successful yet, as I mostly did this for fun and only recently started spreading the word about my music more. I also only do covers currently. Original music is something I’m going to hopefully be part of a group for.
