Denise DeDe Lopez has carved out an extraordinary career as an artist, songwriter, DJ, and producer. With more than 500,000 albums sold, she has made her mark on the global music scene. Her journey, which spans genres and decades, has seen her perform on some of the world’s largest stages, collaborate with notable figures in the industry, and maintain a strong connection to her musical roots. Now, in 2024, she continues to innovate with her latest release, “Push It,” a track that blends house music with a hip-hop twist, once again showcasing her versatility and passion for music.
A Tribute to Inspiration: “Push It” Featuring LA Rush
In 2024, DeDe Lopez released a fresh take on the classic track “Push It,” featuring the talents of Swedish producer LA Rush. This modern floor banger combines house music with a hip-hop twist, paying tribute to the original “Push It” by Salt-N-Pepa, a song that profoundly influenced DeDe’s career.
As a child, DeDe was an avid listener of rap music, particularly drawn to the sounds of female rappers like Salt-N-Pepa, MC Lyte, Queen Latifah, and Foxy Brown. The 1986 release of “Push It” by Salt-N-Pepa was a turning point for her. At just 14 years old, DeDe took her first steps into the world of rap, becoming one of Sweden’s pioneering female rappers. The song’s infectious energy and groundbreaking role in empowering women in hip-hop left a lasting impact on DeDe’s musical direction.
Now, decades later, DeDe has revisited the song that helped shape her career. This 2024 version of “Push It” serves as both a celebration and a tribute to Salt-N-Pepa’s influence. It’s the first time DeDe has done a cover, and she approached the project with a deep sense of respect for the original. Collaborating with LA Rush, a renowned Swedish producer, DJ, and radio host, DeDe crafted a party anthem that retains the spirit of the original while adding a modern twist. The track features four different mixes, each with its own unique flavor, making it a versatile addition to any playlist.
LA Rush, known for his extensive experience in remixing and producing, has brought his signature style to this collaboration. His work has been featured on radio stations across the UK, the US, and Sweden, and his remixing talent has been sought after by numerous artists. Together, DeDe Lopez and LA Rush have created a track that bridges the gap between the classic and the contemporary, making “Push It” a standout release in 2024.

DeDe Lopez’s career has been nothing short of remarkable. Over the years, she has worked with some of the biggest names in the music industry, both as a performer and a songwriter. Her collaborations with top producers and songwriters, such as Max Martin, Andreas Carlsson, and Anders Bagge, have helped her create a sound that is uniquely her own.
In 2007, DeDe teamed up with Grammy-winning recording artist Pras from The Fugees to release the hit single “Turn You On.” The track, which features Pras’s smooth rap flow and DeDe’s sassy vocals, became a sensation, spending nine weeks on the Swedish singles chart and peaking at No. 2. This collaboration showcased DeDe’s ability to blend genres and work with diverse artists, further solidifying her reputation as a versatile and innovative musician.
In 2018, DeDe continued to push boundaries with the release of “Dare to Change the World,” featuring hip-hop queen MC Lyte. The track, written and produced by DeDe herself, received widespread acclaim and reached #5 on the US Top 20 charts. It became a global hit, demonstrating DeDe’s ongoing relevance and her commitment to using her music as a platform for change and empowerment.
Her discography is extensive, with albums spanning from 1995 to her latest EP, “Revolution,” released in 2021. Each album reflects a different stage in her evolution as an artist, from the energetic beats of “Slave to the Sound” in 2003 to the introspective and socially conscious themes of “Revolution.”

We had the privilege of interviewing Denise DeDe Lopez. Here are excerpts from the interview.
Hi, It’s great to have you with us today! Please share with our readers about your latest release, ‘Push It.’
Hi, I am an artist, songwriter, DJ, and producer. I was born in Mexico City but grew up in Sweden. As a child, I listened a lot to rap music, especially female rappers such as Salt N’ Pepa, MC Lyte, Queen Latifah, Foxy Brown, and others. But it was thanks to the song “Push It” and Salt N’ Pepa from 1986 that I took the step to start rapping when I was only 14 years old. I was one of the first female rappers in Sweden. It’s the first time I’ve done a cover, and it is a tribute to Salt N’ Pepa for inspiring me. I asked the Swedish producer LA Rush, for a collaboration on this track. LA Rush is a Swedish music producer, DJ, remixer, songwriter, and weekly radio host with “LA Rush in The Mix” airing on several radio stations in the U.K., the U.S., and in Sweden.
Please tell us about your journey.
I started my career as a dancer and singer and toured the world with Dr.Alban (1989-1994), Melodie MC, and Culture Beat (Mr. Vain). During the last year with Culture Beat (1994), I signed a record deal and recorded the album TBA (Totally Bombastic Anecdotes) with Sony Music Sweden under my stage name DeDe. My second single (Party) opened the market in Japan, and my first album, “TBA,” sold gold within a month. I have sold more than 500,000 physical album sales. I toured the world and sold out the Tokyo Dome in Japan twice. As an artist, I received a recording contract with Sony BMG (1994–1999) and signed an agreement as an exclusive songwriter for Air Chrysalis Scandinavia AB (1993–2001). Some of my latest works are published by the same publisher. But since 1999, I run my own label and publishing. I was the only Swedish artist who was the opening act for Michael Jackson in Gothenburg 1999, Sweden, and was also open up for 50 Cent in Helsinki together with Pras (Fugees), Finland in 2007. I still tour with Dr Alban at times, but today, I am a singer and DJ.
What are the strategies that helped you become successful in your journey?
Even as a child, I used to set goals in life. I affirm. I was 12 when I wrote down that one day I would be Michael Jackson’s bandmate. Of course, no one believed me. In 1999, I was.
Any message for our readers?
Believe in yourself because if you don’t, who are you going to convince? Set interim and final goals, and be willing to work hard and take care of yourself. I am sober, exercise 5-6 times a week, and eat healthy. Health is my priority. Without good health, who are you?
Thank you so much for giving us your precious time! We wish you all the best for your journey ahead!
