La’Tosha Aikens—author of the devotional book God’s Word In My Breath—has long embraced the transformative power of Scripture. She’s passionate about guiding others toward a richer understanding of God’s love. Her work resonates with warmth and authenticity, reflecting her deep desire to help individuals find hope amid life’s challenges. Many readers have praised her gentle tone and relatable insights, saying they feel truly seen in her words.
A Heart for Devotional Writing

La’Tosha’s journey into writing began as a private habit. She would scribble brief thoughts in a notebook during moments of prayer or reflection. Over time, she felt a quiet nudge in her spirit—an impression that whispered, “Others might need this too.” Initially, she hesitated. Who would want to read her personal reflections? Yet, a meaningful conversation confirmed her calling. She shared a snippet from one journal entry with a lady, who teared up and asked, “Did you write this just for me?” That question felt like a divine affirmation. It encouraged her to publish her own devotionals for readers seeking spiritual insight.
Her book God’s Word In My Breath arose from this conviction. It holds daily reflections designed to nurture faith and prompt deeper connection to God’s Word. Each page invites readers to pause, breathe, and experience the presence of a loving God who sees their every concern. La’Tosha hopes it becomes a faithful companion for those yearning for a tangible reminder that they’re never alone.
Capturing the Complexity of Emotions

La’Tosha acknowledges that real life isn’t always tidy. People can feel joy mixed with grief or relief shadowed by apprehension. She suggests that these layers of emotion don’t disqualify believers from God’s grace. In fact, they can open new windows of understanding. By sharing her own experiences, she shows how faith can flourish even when hearts feel torn. She recognizes that God’s love touches every aspect of human experience—moments of triumph, periods of loss, and the many in-between seasons where clarity isn’t always immediate.
Sometimes, she reflects on the tension she felt when stepping into a new opportunity while also grieving a door that closed. Other times, she recalls a prayer that illuminated her doubts, transforming them into stepping stones for a deeper trust in God’s plan. She writes honestly about these complexities, encouraging readers to bring every thought—whether bright or cloudy—to the One who promises never to leave.
The Power of Daily Reflection
Central to La’Tosha’s message is the discipline of daily engagement with God’s Word. She believes Scripture offers renewing power that can soothe the soul, challenge complacency, and spark hope when discouragement sets in. Her devotionals blend biblical truths with personal anecdotes, weaving God’s promises into the everyday moments of life. She wants readers to see that growth often blooms in stillness… when a person sits quietly and listens for the Lord’s voice.
She recommends simple habits—like pausing for a short prayer before beginning a chore, or reading a brief verse before checking a phone in the morning. These everyday acts, in her view, strengthen faith and open the heart to God’s guiding Spirit. She also encourages journaling about questions or insights that arise while reading Scripture. In her own life, she’s witnessed how putting pen to paper can reveal hidden fears that need surrender or unexpected blessings that deserve celebration.
Walking Forward in Faith
Ultimately, La’Tosha hopes her devotionals serve as a gentle roadmap, helping people cultivate trust in God’s unfailing presence. She aims to show that anyone—no matter where they’ve been or what they’ve faced—can discover new depths of faith. She’s quick to acknowledge she’s still learning herself. Her writing never claims to have all the answers; it seeks to point readers to the One who does. She knows that spiritual growth isn’t a single step but a lifelong journey filled with questions, struggles, and triumphs.
Her work continues to inspire diverse audiences, from young adults beginning their spiritual exploration to seasoned believers looking for renewed passion. Some mention that God’s Word In My Breath feels like a personal conversation—an invitation to sit quietly with God and pour out every concern. Others appreciate how her devotionals embrace authenticity, granting permission to wrestle with doubts while leaning on the truth of Scripture.
La’Tosha Aikens remains devoted to sharing genuine reflections of faith. She believes God’s Word will always outshine the darkest moment—reminding believers to keep going, keep hoping, and keep inviting God into each breath. Through her writing, she seeks to affirm that even a single glimmer of faith can ignite profound change, leading to a life anchored in love and grace. Readers who open her book step into a space where hope is always at hand, and where God’s presence—though sometimes subtle—remains ever real, ever comforting, and ever within reach
We had the privilege of interviewing La’Tosha Aikens. Here are excerpts from the interview:
Thank you so much for joining us today! Please tell us about your devotional book.
The writing of this devotional has been a process for me. I thought I was writing devotionals for myself daily and didn’t realize that I was writing for others until I heard God say clearly, “Do you really think you are the only one dealing with these issues and asking me these questions?” For a while, I said, “No, God, there is no way that this is going to happen,” and I sat and thought to myself, “Are you truly hearing the voice of God?” Confirmation came when I was speaking with a lady and pulled out one of my journals. The lady said, “Did you write this for me?” As we both sat and cried, I looked up and said, “Father, I hear you.”
Often, we see a smile and assume it signals happiness, or we see tears and immediately think of sadness. These emotions seem so clear-cut, don’t they? But what if I told you that you could smile and weep at the same time? That you could feel grateful and sad simultaneously? Or perhaps experience jealousy and shame in a single moment? This, my friend, is what I call complex emotions.
We often fail to recognize the depth of our emotional lives. We can feel more than one emotion at once, whether directed at a person or a situation. Sometimes, those emotions are contradictory—joy and sorrow, hope and frustration—and yet they coexist within us, shaping our experience. The beauty of this complexity is that, even in our emotional turmoil, God has given us grace to bear more than one emotion at a time.
The challenge, however, is learning how to process these emotions. What matters most is how we allow ourselves to sit with them and work through them. I remember a season in my own life where I experienced this profound emotional complexity. I was filled with joy as new opportunities opened before me, yet there was a deep sadness as I watched old chapters close. I was grateful that God was guiding me through it all, even though the process was difficult. It was a time when my emotions seemed to be pulling me in different directions, but I chose to be still, to breathe, and to let God show me how to navigate it all.
This book is born from that experience. It’s a journey through the many emotions we encounter on a day-to-day basis, and it’s an invitation for you to take a moment to pause and reflect on the emotions you may be carrying. The purpose of this devotional is not to simplify the emotional journey, but to give you space and time to recognize that God’s Word, combined with your breath, has the power to transform your perspective on whatever emotions you’re dealing with right now.
As you journey through these pages, my hope is that you will gain a deeper understanding of your own emotional complexity and allow God’s grace to guide you in processing your feelings. Whether you’re navigating joy, sorrow, frustration, or peace—know that God is with you, and He is big enough to carry it all.
What are the strategies that helped you become successful in your journey?
What has helped me become successful on this journey is learning to listen to the still, small voice of God and harken to the call. My prayer is that you have found something here that speaks to your heart and draws you closer to God. Whether it was a truth to hold on to, a challenge to reflect on, or a reminder of His love and faithfulness, may these words continue to resonate in your life as you go forward.
Any message for our readers.
Remember, each day is a new opportunity to grow in your relationship with God, and He is always with you, guiding and strengthening you. Keep seeking His presence, and know that He is doing a work in you that will bear fruit in His perfect time.
Be encouraged, be brave, and continue to walk by faith.
