Hi, It’s great to have you with us today! Please share about yourself with our readers.
Hi, I am a Clinical Psychologist who works in private practice in Walnut Creek, CA. I am also a mom of 2, a blogger, and an avid entrepreneur.
Please tell us about the work that you do.
With a solid background spanning more than ten years, I’ve had the privilege of supporting a diverse clientele through a variety of life’s complexities. My areas of expertise encompass a range of concerns from emotional well-being, such as managing depression and anxiety, to navigating the intricacies of relationships, professional stressors, self-esteem, sexuality, and significant life transitions, including pregnancy, the journey into motherhood, cultural adaptation, loss, and even the paths that lead to and from marriage. I’m particularly attuned to issues surrounding women’s health and relational dynamics.
In my practice, I embrace a strength-based and relational style of psychotherapy, which is all about working together and creating an environment of mutual respect and honesty. I help my clients explore the layers of their experiences, significant life events that shape them, and the genetic and societal factors that influence their well-being, and embark on a journey together that enhances their sense of accomplishment and personal satisfaction. In therapy, my goal is to collaboratively work with clients to remove emotional, resolve conflicts, and equip clients with the tools necessary in order to move through life with better ease and fulfillment.
As a psychologist deeply invested in the well-being of women, I recognized a profound need for a space where empowerment and self-care are not just encouraged but celebrated. This insight led me to create “Watermelon Joy,” a blog dedicated to fostering a dynamic and supportive community for women. The vision was clear: to create a sanctuary where self-care is prioritized and emotional, physical, and spiritual health are harmonized with the demands of daily life.
The catalyst for “Watermelon Joy” stemmed from witnessing the transformative effect that self-nurturance has not only on individuals but also on the fabric of our relationships and communities. It’s my professional goal to inspire and solidify the notion that by investing in our own growth and happiness, we inadvertently enrich the lives of those around us.
Through “Watermelon Joy,” I aim to share a wealth of knowledge and practical strategies that equip women with the courage and clarity to navigate the complex tapestry of life. The blog is a celebration of our collective strength, the magnificence of supporting one another, and the power of a safe space to share our journeys and wisdom.
Initiating this blog was an invitation—an invitation to join hands in a shared voyage of discovery and mutual empowerment. At “Watermelon Joy,” we’re committed to not only uncovering the finest versions of ourselves but also to nurturing an environment where every woman can thrive, embodying resilience, love, and an infectious zest for life.

From the backseat of a car with tunes playing, a young girl’s mind was already turning with thoughts of people’s stories and the reasons behind their actions. That girl was me, and that curiosity blossomed into a lifelong passion. As both a child and an adult, I became known for my inquisitiveness, the one at gatherings effortlessly drawing out the life stories of new acquaintances. This drive, a blend of curiosity and a zest for connection, propelled me toward a career where understanding and interaction were central: psychology.
By the age of 11, my path was clear. My education took me from the sunny coasts of UC San Diego to the bustling streets of New York for graduate studies at Long Island University. My pursuit of knowledge and human connection didn’t pause at academia; it spilled over into my jobs as a waitress and bartender, roles that kept me grounded and connected to diverse walks of life.
With a doctorate in Clinical Psychology from George Washington University under my belt, and after completing my residency in Pennsylvania, I found my way back to California. Here, at the West Coast Children’s Clinic, my professional journey flourished. I engaged in meaningful work, from individual therapy to group and family sessions, always with a commitment to long-term support and community-based service.
Becoming a mother added a profound layer to my life and work. It allowed me to reflect on my upbringing and instilled a desire to foster an environment where my children—and all children—feel seen, heard, and cherished. I wanted them to grow with a sense of independence and emotional intelligence that would empower them to thrive.
Following the birth of my daughter, my ex and I separated, which led to 2 challenging years as a single mother. Trying to balance raising my children on my own while managing multiple jobs required immense strength and adaptability.
After reaching the milestone of earning my doctorate, becoming a psychologist, and starting my own practice, I found myself missing the thrill of chasing a new dream. While I find deep meaning in offering therapy and value the connections it brings, it can also be emotionally taxing and sometimes a solitary path. I’ve always thrived on community and collaboration, craving the kind of teamwork I remembered fondly.
This craving led me to explore the world of real estate, a field I’ve always been curious about. It promised a lighter atmosphere where I could engage with people in a different setting and help them find their dream homes. I went ahead and got my real estate license, eager for this new chapter. But I quickly realized that this new role was pulling me away from precious time with my children, family, and friends—time that I treasure deeply.
So, I steered back towards my core values, which led me to the idea of Watermelon Joy. This project became an avenue for me to contribute, connect, and share valuable insights on a wider scale. It’s been an exciting journey to craft something fresh, tapping into diverse areas of my expertise and creating a platform that serves others beyond the bounds of traditional therapy. Watermelon Joy is the embodiment of my passion for bringing people together, sharing knowledge, and fostering a supportive community.
