Borth Vold’s “Money & Bible” Shows How Faith and Financial Wealth Can Coexist

Money & Bible: Shocking Secrets about Financial Wealth, Tithing, and Giving” shows how faith and finances can work hand in hand. The author—known by the pen name Borth Vold—shares a journey of sudden wealth, wise stewardship, and scriptural insights that reshaped his view on giving. Readers see how he earned a year’s salary in four months and started a family debt-free, all while following Bible-based convictions.

Early Inspirations

He grew up in a countryside village filled with mountains, rivers, and pristine nature. His family harvested much of their food straight from the land, teaching him to value hard work. Over time, he traveled widely, served as a professional soldier on international missions, and explored various cultures. He later visited multiple universities, studying math, physics, English, pedagogy, and information technology. Eventually, he became a teacher, then entered the IT world—also dabbling in real estate—as a self-employed specialist who tackled complex logic. These diverse experiences guided his writing style, aiming for clarity in every project and every page.

Unexpected Wealth and Biblical Lessons

In his book, the author clears up misconceptions about wealth, tithing, and giving. Drawing from Deuteronomy 14:23, he points out that people who tithe could enjoy part of it themselves… a rarely taught idea that prompts new thoughts on handling finances. The book surveys Scripture—from the Old to the New Testament—to show that giving from gratitude brings deeper blessings. Financial freedom emerges when faith meets everyday choices. He recalls moments when God provided in astonishing ways—like earning large sums quickly or receiving vital things at no cost. Being “richly rewarded” goes beyond money. True wealth includes purpose, and feeling God’s presence, even in hardships. The author underscores that money and faith flourish when approached with reverence and a cheerful heart.

He shares that many misunderstand the concept of tithing. Some assume it means strict requirements and added burdens. Others fear God requires money for salvation. His findings suggest salvation is free, given through God’s grace, and generosity flows from a thankful heart. The author reminds readers that God gives first, so His people can bless others.

A Journey of Gratitude and Hope

These pages lead readers toward more than just financial gain. They spotlight embracing personal gifts, and treasuring God’s presence. He has seen how money issues sometimes push people away from churches. He believes a better approach brings healing and unity. Joy emerges when giving is done without guilt, so each gift feels like a heartfelt act of love. The author’s story shows that material blessings arise, yet life is truly full when joined with gratitude. There’s a reason he earned so much in such a short time—his open-hearted approach drew opportunities. Some arrived as finances, and others as free resources.

He’s now married with children, though he uses a pen name for security. Family, friends, sports, the outdoors, and his belief system shape his daily life. When he’s outside, harvesting his own food, he feels closest to God’s creation. That sense of wonder finds its way into his writing, offering hope to anyone wrestling with financial uncertainty.

We had the privilege of interviewing the author. Here are excerpts from the interview:

Thank you so much for joining us today! Please introduce yourself and tell us what you do.

My name is Bard, aka Borth Vold. I am a man and self-employed. I work in the IT industry and a little in real estate. I have been a Christian for a long time and have lived in many countries. I have also traveled a lot, including some mission trips. I teach often and write books.

Please tell us about your Book.

My latest book is about money, giving, and tithing in the Bible. I see many people struggling with these topics. Some believe they should not be rich or have a lot of money. Others blame wealthy people, thinking it is wrong to have money. Many are afraid to earn money, borrow money, or even succeed. Some think God does not want to bless them, while others believe God demands payment through tithing to be a Christian.

These are all misunderstandings.

In my book, I explore everything the Bible says about tithing, giving, and money. I go through both the Old and New Testaments, studying all the relevant verses. In the end, we find true financial freedom.

I have met many people who left the church because of money issues. Some felt rejected because they couldn’t tithe due to financial struggles. Others were told, ‘Becoming a Christian is easy—you just need to give 10% to the church.’ But salvation is free. God does not demand money from us. There may be special situations where giving is important, but the main message in the Bible is that God gives to us. In response, out of thankfulness, we give to others and bless those in need.

Joy, freedom, and gratitude are key themes in my book. It’s about truly understanding what the Bible teaches about money and living with financial peace.

Why did it take me many years to write this book?

First of all, I had to go through many personal experiences. I believe that when I gave generously, I was also richly rewarded. But being richly rewarded is not just about money. Of course, financial blessings are nice, and I have experienced them, but a truly rich life is about much more than wealth.

When we go to God, give from our hearts, and do our best for Him, He blesses us in all areas of life. True wealth includes money, but it also means having peace, purpose, and joy.

This book shares my journey. There were times when I earned a year’s salary in just four months. Other times, I received things I needed for free. But most importantly, I have always had God with me. In every challenge, He was there—guiding me, giving me purpose, and supporting me.

I never gave out of guilt. I always gave with a joyful heart, and because of that, I have lived in complete financial freedom. There is so much joy in this way of living, and that is what I want to share with you in this book.

What are the strategies that helped you become successful in your journey?

These are the strategies—the key principles in the Bible—that help us grow in faith.

To have faith or to strengthen our faith, we first need to meet God and experience Him. But this is a journey that can take some time. God is alive, and He will meet us in His own way and time. He wants to show us His promises, His goodness, and His blessings. He wants to give us motivation, joy, peace, and salvation. When we allow Him to work in our lives, our faith will grow naturally.

With faith comes joy, a positive attitude, guidance, motivation, and strength. This helps us live according to God’s will—not because we feel forced to obey laws, but because we are inspired and motivated by God Himself.

I once told my daughter, that if possible, she should do these five things every day:

📖 READ – Study God’s Word

🙏 PRAY – Talk to God

👂 HEAR – Listen to His voice

💖 GIVE – Be generous

🗣️ TELL – Share His goodness

If we can do these things out of joy, they will become something we love, not a burden. This will lead to success, fulfillment, and positive change—not only in our own lives but also in the lives of those around us.

Any message for our readers

I receive messages from my readers, and they tell me that this book is about much more than just money. While we focus on money in the book, the bigger goal is about you and God—being together and finding happiness. If you want to be someone who gives, you must first have something to give. You cannot give if you have nothing. When Jesus told us, ‘Give, and you shall receive,’ the first step—giving—implies that you must first have. How can you give if you have nothing? God already wants you to have, so that you can give, and in return, you will receive again. It’s a beautiful cycle: God blesses you, you give, you receive, and the cycle continues.

Thank you so much, Bard, for giving us your precious time! We wish you all the best for your journey ahead!
