A Fresh Start to Retirement
Retirement can feel like stepping into a wide-open world—full of promise, yet sometimes a little confusing. Many retirees lose the everyday structure of a job and aren’t sure how to stay motivated. Others have big dreams but wonder how to fund them on a limited budget. Some want to keep active, learn new things, and maintain social connections. And plenty of adult children search for that perfect gift to help their parents embrace this new life stage. That’s where “The Ultimate Guide to a Happy Life in Retirement: Stay Active and Healthy in the Best Chapter of Life; Learn New Things and Revisit Old Hobbies; Explore Your Freedom and Social Ideas” by Romek Hanys fits right in.
What This Book Offers
This guide provides practical, exciting, and affordable ways to design a fulfilling retirement. It covers strategies for staying healthy, maintaining friendships, exploring fresh activities, and rediscovering passions that may have faded over the years. Readers get tips on meeting new people through group events and online tools—helpful for anyone feeling isolated. There are sections focused on budget-friendly exercise routines, so staying fit doesn’t mean breaking the bank. The book touches on mobility-friendly pursuits, ensuring that those with different activity levels can still find ways to stay engaged.
Beyond physical activities, there’s guidance on hobbies such as digital storytelling and other creative projects. Sharing memories online can be a wonderful way to connect with family, especially those spread across the globe. The material is written in a friendly tone, encouraging retirees to try fresh experiences or revisit old favorites. One section even details how to craft an encore career based on genuine passion rather than financial necessity. That’s a powerful idea—retirement doesn’t have to signal the end of meaningful work; it can be the chance to explore something that truly sparks joy.
Group activities feature prominently throughout the book. Simple ways to join clubs, host small gatherings, or link up with community programs are detailed for those eager to expand social circles. The author includes personal stories from retirees who found newfound purpose in these shared activities. Readers might discover something as simple as a neighborhood walking group or a language exchange that can open the door to friendships and fresh adventures.

Why This Guide Stands Out
Romek Hanys speaks from experience. As a retired ship designer turned author, investor, traveler, and polyglot, he leads an active life and understands how to shape retirement into a thrilling chapter. His book The Ultimate Guide to a Happy Life in Retirement goes beyond generic advice—each chapter digs into actionable steps anyone can take. There are creative exercises for mental agility, which can be as simple as learning a new card game or immersing oneself in a skill like painting or embroidery. For those curious about traveling, the guide includes money-saving ideas that work for big trips or local jaunts. It talks about discovering new environments without dipping too deeply into savings.
Romek believes that life after retirement can still be a time of wonder and growth. His own story serves as an encouraging example. He’s mastered nine languages and traveled widely, yet he still makes time to wander closer to home, often hiking through scenic landscapes. His insights remind readers that age shouldn’t limit exploration—there’s always a fresh view just around the corner.

Hi Romek, It’s great to have you with us today! Please share about yourself with our readers.
Hi, I live in New Zealand. I retired from professional work a few years ago, and, amongst other things, I found a new passion in writing books.
Please tell us about your book.
My book is about transitioning from years of professional work to retirement. For many, this is a difficult period. After a few weeks of sheer joy from the excess of time and absence of stress related to work, uncertainty may creep in, spoiling everything. My book addresses these issues; it aims to help make sense of this new chapter and live a meaningful life, a whole of activities that don’t break the budget.
Please share your journey with our readers.
After many years of professional work in various places (and countries) and an active life with many responsibilities and stress, I suddenly retired. That’s it, I thought, and I immediately went through a difficult transition period from one mental state to another. I know only too well what it means and how it can make life difficult. I also saw other retirees finding it challenging to redefine their lives and adjust to a new reality. Then, I came up with the idea of writing this book.
In the book, I describe various aspects of retirement, which I analyzed minutely and applied in my life. I am confident that anyone who sticks to these essential things will live a meaningful life for years.
Any message for our readers?
