Some stories are written to entertain. Others are written to heal. Finally Figured It Out: Shattering Generational Curses. A Journey from Brokenness to Healing by Rhonda Harris belongs to the second kind, offering readers a deeply personal account of survival, faith, and transformation.
Born Into Brokenness
In her debut memoir, Rhonda Harris opens with a truth that feels both simple and heavy. She was born into brokenness, though she did not recognize it at first. As a child, she believed survival was normal. Silence felt like strength. Love, even when it came wrapped in chaos and pain, seemed ordinary because it was all she had ever known.
Rhonda invites readers into a life shaped by generational wounds passed down quietly through family lines. These were patterns formed in fear and reinforced by silence. For years, she carried them without fully understanding their weight. She often felt different within her own family, set apart in ways she could not explain. That sense of isolation lingered. She tried to blend in. She tried to adapt. Deep inside, though, she knew something had to change.
The memoir does not romanticize hardship. Rhonda writes plainly about trauma, abandonment, betrayal, and grief. The loss of her brother left a mark that words can barely contain. A strained relationship with her mother added layers of confusion and hurt. Marriage and motherhood brought both joy and reflection, forcing her to confront painful cycles that threatened to repeat themselves in her own children’s lives.
Through it all, she remained honest. The pages hold laughter, anger, tears, and moments of sharp clarity. Readers are given a real woman’s journey through darkness toward something brighter.
Confronting the Cycles
What makes Finally Figured It Out stand out is the courage behind it. Rhonda talks about generational curses and examines how they shaped her thinking, her relationships, and her sense of self.
There came a time, she explains, when silence grew heavier than truth. That realization marked a turning point. Speaking up felt risky. Looking inward felt uncomfortable. Yet she understood that healing demanded confrontation.
Faith plays a central role in her transformation. Rhonda credits God’s grace, fierce determination, and relentless belief for guiding her through seasons when she felt like she was drowning in a mess she did not create. Spiritual growth unfolded slowly, often through hardship. Still, it anchored her.
Motherhood became another catalyst. As she looked at her children, she recognized the responsibility in front of her. The cycle could continue, or it could stop. That decision shaped everything that followed. Rhonda chose to fight for freedom, even while she was still healing.
She describes herself as born a boss, a fighter, a survivor. It took time for her to fully embrace those qualities. Pain refined her. Truth strengthened her. Grace softened her. By the time she reached clarity, she was no longer simply surviving. She was rebuilding.
From Survival to Freedom
The heart of this memoir lies in its shift from endurance to empowerment. Rhonda claims progress. She acknowledges that scars remain, yet she sees them differently now. They are reminders of battles faced and lessons learned.
Her professional background adds another layer to her story. With years of experience supporting military officials, medical professionals, and nonprofit teams, Rhonda has dedicated much of her life to serving those who serve others. That outward focus mirrors her personal journey. Encouraging people is woven into who she is.
At home, she is a proud wife, mother, and grandmother. She enjoys cooking soulful meals, settling in with a good book, or watching a favorite movie. These everyday details ground her story. They remind readers that healing does show up in ordinary peace.
Throughout the book, Rhonda speaks directly to cycle-breakers and truth-tellers. She writes for those who feel stuck in patterns they did not choose. She writes for anyone longing for more than survival. Her message is steady and clear. Healing is real. Freedom is possible. The cycle can stop with you.
By the final pages, readers understand that Rhonda truly figured it out. She shattered the curses that once defined her path and found freedom in the pieces left behind.
Finally Figured It Out: Shattering Generational Curses offers hope. For anyone standing at the edge of their own healing journey, Rhonda’s story gently reminds them that rising is possible, one brave step at a time.
We had the privilege of interviewing the author. Here are excerpts from the interview:
Thank you so much for joining us today! Please introduce yourself and tell us what you do.
I’m Rhonda Harris, a first-time author, speaker, and advocate for healing and generational transformation. I help women break free from cycles of pain, trauma, and limiting beliefs so they can walk in wholeness and purpose. Through my writing, speaking, and upcoming YouTube platform, I share real, raw experiences about healing, faith, sisterhood, and self-discovery. My mission is to create safe spaces where women feel seen, heard, and empowered to rewrite their stories.
Please tell us about your journey.
My journey has been one of brokenness, resilience, and ultimately healing. I grew up navigating complex family dynamics, deep emotional wounds, and experiences that shaped how I saw myself and others. For years, I carried pain, anger, and survival habits that affected my relationships and my sense of identity.
But through faith, self-reflection, and intentional healing, I began to confront the generational patterns that had been passed down to me. I made the decision to stop running from my pain and start doing the inner work. My book, Finally Figured It Out: Shattering Generational Curses – A Journey from Brokenness to Healing, is a reflection of that process. It’s my testimony of transformation and a reminder that healing is possible, no matter where you start.
What are the strategies that helped you become successful in your journey?
The biggest strategy was choosing healing daily, even when it was uncomfortable. I had to be honest with myself, set boundaries, and release the need to control everything. I leaned heavily on faith, prayer, journaling, and surrounding myself with people who supported my growth.
I also learned that success isn’t perfection—it’s consistency. Small, intentional steps over time helped me rebuild my confidence and redefine what success looks like. Letting go of expectations and walking in alignment with who God created me to be was a major turning point.
Any message for our readers
Give yourself permission to heal and grow at your own pace. You are not your past, your mistakes, or the pain you’ve experienced. Healing is not linear, but every step forward matters.
You don’t have to carry everything alone. There is strength in vulnerability and freedom in letting go. The life you desire is possible when you choose yourself and trust the process. Your story still has purpose.
Thank you so much, Rhonda, for giving us your precious time! We wish you all the best for your journey ahead!
