If you’re searching for a children’s book that combines adventure, warmth, and valuable life lessons, look no further than “Ivan the Igloo: Warms a Cold Heart” by Jason Goodchild. This delightful story, part of The Dwellings series, brings to life an igloo with big dreams and an even bigger heart.

An Unlikely Friendship in the North Pole

Ivan is an igloo with a dream: to become a famous tourist attraction in the North Pole. Just as he’s beginning to see his aspirations take shape, a looming menace threatens to derail his plans. But when Ivan bravely rescues this antagonist from a pack of hungry dogs, an unexpected friendship blossoms. Together, they embark on a magical adventure that not only fulfills Ivan’s dreams but surpasses them in ways he never imagined.

Themes That Resonate: Compassion, Forgiveness, and Communication

What sets “Ivan the Igloo” apart is its exploration of deep and meaningful themes presented in a way that’s accessible to children aged 3 to 8 and beyond. The story delves into why individuals might exhibit unkind behavior, revealing that sometimes, those who seem like bullies are simply in need of understanding and friendship. Through Ivan’s journey, young readers learn the importance of compassion, the power of forgiveness, and how open communication can bridge even the widest gaps.

The Dwellings Series: Homes with Personality and Purpose

“Ivan the Igloo” is just one gem in The Dwellings series, a collection of stories where homes come alive with personality and spirit. Inspired during a time when many of us were confined to our own dwellings, Jason Goodchild envisioned houses around the world imbued with the energy of their inhabitants. The series aims to provide children with comfort, boost their confidence, and foster greater compassion for others. Other books in the series, like “Lilly the Lighthouse: Saved by the Storm,” continue this mission by teaching lessons about honesty, empathy, and the enduring power of friendship.

We had the privilege of interviewing the author. Here are excerpts from the interview:

Hi, Please introduce yourself and tell us what you do.

My name is Jason Goodchild, and I am a tutor and author of children’s books.

Please tell us about your book.

My newly released book is called Ivan the Igloo – Warms a Cold Heart and is a part of the Dwellings book series, where homes have taken on a life of their own. In this new release, the story, about an Igloo, reflects us as humans being compassionate, understanding and willing to talk with someone who is being a bully, but really needs help because they are not confident in themselves.

Ivan the Igloo, as well as Lilly the Lighthouse (which is the first book in the series), explores themes of compassion, forgiveness, understanding, and the importance of communication.

Please tell us about your journey.

The journey with this book range and ultimately deciding to embark upon becoming an author all started with writing down the ideas ideas that came to me, with the intention to one day write a book or so. It wasn’t until Lockdown in the UK that sparked the idea to write a series called The Dwellings. It came from the thought that homes may have taken on the emotions of their inhabitants – thus coming to life! Their stories would then be told from their perspective of life.

What are the strategies that helped you become successful in your journey?

The strategies that have helped me to realise my idea of bringing these characters to life, include being disciplined in writing and planning as well as well as trying the best I can to navigate through my plan.

Any message for our readers

The message for readers is that I hope that you and your families enjoy this book range and are able to implement the values that are exhibited (such as respect, forgiveness, compassion, and understanding) into everyday life. Blessings to one and all!

Thank you so much, Jason, for giving us your precious time! We wish you all the best for your journey ahead!
