Fantasy worlds become memorable when their histories feel larger than a single adventure. In “Beware the Golden Tigers (The Light Crown),” author Aspry Jones returns to Aeril with a story shaped by fragile peace, supernatural forces, old crimes, royal decisions, and consequences that reach across different eras.
The novel is available on Amazon in Kindle, hardcover, and paperback editions. It continues the Light Crown series and expands a universe where fantasy, science fiction, spirituality, and adventure intersect.
A Fragile Peace Faces a New Threat
“Beware the Golden Tigers” begins a year after the Light Crown was saved. Aeril has experienced a period of peace, yet the stability its heroes fought to achieve is starting to fracture. A formidable new presence arrives from an alternate universe: the witch hunters of the Bhaskari priesthood.
Their arrival brings a fresh source of tension to the series. These figures enter Aeril as active forces with their own purpose, introducing a conflict capable of changing the world and the lives of those who inhabit it.
Aspry also takes readers into an earlier timeline through the story of Faden the Liar, a man facing execution after a lengthy history of crimes. King Greith of House Frays has determined his fate, and the situation appears settled until an unexpected act of divine mercy changes its direction.
That decision carries implications for the kingdom of Torvinia. By connecting events separated by time, the story gives readers an opportunity to see how individual choices can become part of a much larger history.
The novel explores sacrifice, power, destiny, judgment, and mercy while keeping adventure at the center of its sprawling fantasy narrative.
An Expansive Journey Through The Light Crown Universe
The book’s 37 chapters suggest the scale of the journey Aspry has created. Readers encounter kings, witches, monks, soldiers, magicians, secret agents, mysterious creatures, family relationships, betrayals, and characters whose origins deepen the mythology surrounding Aeril.
Chapter titles such as “The Golden Tiger,” “The Festival of Gold,” “The Azu Monk,” “The Immortal Blood Feud,” and “The Return of Blankface” point toward a world filled with distinct personalities and interconnected events. Several chapters explore origin stories, including those of Ishan and Bombastus, the alien Kunglun, and Xu Fu.
Other chapters introduce intriguing settings and situations through titles including “The Wonders of Manipesh,” “The Last Night in Rattling Root,” “The Wizard’s Friend from the Future,” and “The King, The Emperor and the Diamond Mogul.”
This broad collection of characters, locations, and storylines gives the sequel room to expand beyond the events of the first book. Aspry’s approach builds a layered fictional history in which the past can influence the present and seemingly isolated events can gain greater significance as the story develops.
“Beware the Golden Tigers” follows “Protectors of the Light Crown,” bringing readers back into the imaginative universe that anchors the series.
From Broadcast Television to Fantasy Storytelling

Before turning his attention toward novels, Aspry spent 25 years working in New York City’s broadcast television industry. His professional background covered news, financial reporting, and sports broadcasting, along with a range of technical and managerial responsibilities.
His career included overseeing morning programming, working as a sound and video engineer, and coordinating multi-camera configurations for live broadcasts. Those years gave him extensive experience with the practical side of presenting stories and information to an audience.
Following his retirement from television, Aspry shifted his creative energy toward writing. His interests extend across fantasy, science fiction, children’s literature, and spiritualism. He describes himself as a broadcast television veteran and an author of three books and counting.
The Light Crown series has become one part of that new creative chapter, allowing him to develop characters, histories, alternate realities, and imaginative conflicts across multiple novels.

We had the privilege of interviewing the author. Here are excerpts from the interview:
Thank you so much for joining us today! Please introduce yourself and tell us what you do.
Hello, I’m Aspry Jones – broadcast television veteran and author of three books and counting. I orbit the worlds of fantasy, sci-fi, children’s books, and spiritualism. My ‘Light Crown’ series includes “Protectors Of The Light Crown” and its sequel, “Beware The Golden Tigers.”
Please tell us about your journey.
After over two decades working in television, mostly in New York City, I retired from that life to fulfill my dream of being a full-time novelist. I’ve been a writer all my life, but never had the time, motivation, or guts to dive head-first into my desired profession. Sobriety, faith, and a deep spiritual practice empower my bravery, filling my head with story after story to put to the page. I feel as if I’ve cracked a secret code and I’m loving every minute of it.
What are the strategies that helped you become successful in your journey?
I believe writing was my destiny from day one, but I ran from it, choosing the harsh ugliness of alcohol or chasing the money in broadcast TV. The only real “strategy” I can say played a part was believing in my own limitlessness. The mental barriers we put up hold us back from achieving our destinies. We humans are programmed to think less of ourselves. It’s only when we recognize the true powers of our imaginations, our emotions, and our actions that we see what we’re capable of – limitlessness. Have the courage to believe that.
Any message for our readers
Yes, everything is going to be okay. Whatever hardship you are facing, you’re strong enough to overcome it. Never forget that. Night will always turn to day. And don’t waste those tough times either. Use them. There are stories in them. Let those nightmares be the fuel for your waking dreams and start writing!
Thank you so much, Aspry Jones, for giving us your precious time! We wish you all the best for your journey ahead!
