Unmasking the magic of ‘Wildfire, The Rise of a Hero’: An Interview with Author Jordan S. Keller

We had the pleasure of interviewing Jordan S. Keller, Author of Ashes Over Avalon Trilogy. Here are the excerpts from the interview.

Hi Jordan, Great to have you with us today! Please share with our readers about yourself.

Hi, I write fantasy books, and I also manage student housing rentals in Cincinnati. I am an assistant instructor of Tai Chi and run a fiction writing workshop group that has been active since 2017.

Please tell us about Ashes Over Avalon Trilogy.

Wildfire, The Rise of a Hero, is the first book in the Ashes Over Avalon Trilogy and offers an introspective look at the relationships and career complexities within a superhero society and the pursuit of one’s identity when the shadows of their past loom over their future. Abigail Turner knew she wanted to be a superhero even before her flame powers developed. She honed her skills, aced community college, and became the sidekick to San Arbor’s number one hero, Volcanic. When she is fired for misconduct, however, furthering her career seems impossible. Determined to don her cape at a different superhero company, Abigail knows she must get stronger and accepts a deal from an unlikely source. Cinder, a similarly powered villain who has bested her at every encounter, offers to train her if Abigail owes him a favor: A way out of the city. Falling in love wasn’t part of the deal. As the line between good and evil blurs, Abigail must choose between her passion to do good and her love for a villain who is hiding much more behind his mask.

The second book of the series called Burnout, The Rise of a Villain is coming out this summer.

Please share with our readers about your journey.

I started writing in second grade and always carried a notebook with me to continue the story during recess, bus rides home, lunch, and any time I had a spare moment I was writing. I probably filled up two dozen notebooks in grade school. I extended that love of writing to journalism in college, where I worked at local newspapers and the radio station to share the stories of the incredible people of Eastern Kentucky. After college, I began taking my fiction writing seriously with the goal of getting published, and three manuscripts and three years later, I had a publishing deal for my debut series,
Ashes Over Avalon

What are the strategies that helped you become successful in your journey?

I didn’t have a strategy going in. There was a lot of trial and error in figuring out how to write a successful novel. I always had a passion for storytelling, and that’s what kept me going. After joining the writing group that I now run, I learned more from other writers with the same dream than I ever would have on my own. Writing every day also helped. Even if I wasn’t making progress in my project, every time I sat down to write, I would sharpen my skills.

Any message for our readers?

Writing a book can be lonely, but being a writer shouldn’t be. Finding a group of writers to work with and share your work with is the best thing I can recommend for young writers.

Fantastic! So tell us, how can people find out more about your book?

Wildfire, The Rise of a Hero is the first book in the Ashes Over Avalon series and can be found on Amazon, Barnes and Noble, requested at your local library, and is on Goodreads. You can find more information about the series and my other projects on my website JordanSKellerAuthor.com and on Instagram under the same name.

Thank you so much, Jordan, for giving us your precious time! We wish you all the best for your journey ahead!
