Thank you so much for joining us today! Please introduce yourself and tell us what you do.
My name is Daniel Simpson. I’m a career automation and controls specialist with a BS in Electronics Engineering. I’m currently a Data and Control Systems Technician for a leading private aerospace company.
Please tell us about your Book.
Renegade’s Gambit is the first book in the series Deep Space Renegade. It is about a lone asteroid miner (Jonas Kade) who finds a special element. A big corporation finds out and tries to seize the element and control the industry. The story is inspired by real observations I’ve made over the years, particularly in the oilfields, by unions and local governments to control everything and silence the little guy.
Please tell us about your journey.
I spent 8 years in the US Navy working on submarines and submarine related equipment. I transitioned to civilian life and worked 12 years in the Oil and Gas industry as an Instrumentation and Electronics technician. I developed controls for new O&G technology. In late 2022, I started working in the aerospace industry, building control systems for various launch hardware systems.
What are the strategies that helped you become successful in your journey?
Honestly, working hard and putting in a lot of hours is what worked best for me. I took a lot of notes when the older generation mentors decided to speak.

The universe is there for the taking. You just have to go get it. Never give up. It took 20 years to get my degree and land my dream job.
