Italian singer-songwriter Marco De Luca brings years of musical evolution into ‘LA STAGIONE DECISIVA,’ an eight-track album released on March 31, 2024. Rooted in protest, reflection, and social observation, the record finds the Atri-based artist expanding his sound through prominent keyboards and psychedelic rock textures while revisiting ideas that have accompanied him since his earlier years with the group Sine.
A Decisive Shift in Marco De Luca’s Sound
‘LA STAGIONE DECISIVA’ marks De Luca’s fourth album, following ‘STANZE REMOTE’ from 2006, ‘DUE’ from 2008, and ‘Canzoni Inedite’ from 2012. Each release has reflected a different stage in his musical development, and his latest project continues that progression with a noticeably broader use of keyboards. Every track incorporates keyboards, giving the album a different atmosphere from the guitar-led new wave and darker tones associated with much of his previous work.
The musical direction leans toward psychedelic rock while retaining De Luca’s established singer-songwriter identity. That change gives the eight songs a distinctive collective character and helps older compositions sit naturally beside newer material. Three tracks, ‘VIDEOSPAZZATURA,’ ‘IL MOSTRO,’ and ‘UN UOMO GENTILE,’ originally came from the repertoire of Sine, the group with which De Luca performed until 2000. For this album, those songs have been revisited and rearranged to fit alongside five previously unreleased compositions.

This approach also creates a connection between different periods of De Luca’s career. Material written during his years with Sine now appears within a contemporary framework shaped by his current musical preferences. Rather than treating those earlier songs as archival pieces, he gives them renewed context through arrangements that complement the album’s keyboard-heavy character and psychedelic influences.
Eight Songs Looking Closely at Modern Society
The album carries a strong social perspective, with several songs addressing uncomfortable aspects of everyday life. Opening track ‘VIDEOSPAZZATURA,’ translated as ‘VIDEO TRASH,’ examines television built around suffering and the way personal pain can become material for attracting audiences. It establishes the record’s protest-driven character immediately and introduces De Luca’s interest in looking beneath familiar forms of entertainment and public behavior.
‘IL MOSTRO,’ or ‘THE MONSTER,’ focuses on fear created by ignorance toward people perceived as different, exploring how that fear can contribute to racism. ‘LA FESTA,’ meaning ‘THE PARTY,’ turns toward the experience of a young girl who is teased and excluded by her peers. Through these subjects, De Luca brings social concerns into individual situations, giving the album themes that extend beyond abstract commentary.
‘ALLA DERIVA,’ translated as ‘ADRIFT,’ considers people living on society’s margins and those who have been forgotten as they gradually drift away. The remaining track list includes ’15 ANNI,’ ‘UN UOMO GENTILE,’ ‘ASPIRANTI MODELLE,’ and ‘IL GIORNO.’ Together with the opening half of the record, these songs form an eight-track project whose identity is shaped by observation, social unease, and De Luca’s evolving approach to composition and arrangement.
About the Artist
Marco De Luca is a singer-songwriter from Atri, in the province of Teramo, Italy. His musical path began in the 1990s with Sine, a group that performed original material alongside covers of The Cure, one of his major inspirations. After the group separated at the beginning of the 2000s, De Luca continued independently, reducing his live activity while devoting more attention to songwriting and recording.
In 2006, he released the self-produced ‘STANZE REMOTE,’ an experimental project influenced by 1980s new wave and created entirely in his home studio. Two years later, ‘DUE’ introduced a more open, pop-oriented sound and involved additional musicians, while De Luca contributed vocals, guitars, and computer arrangements. ‘Canzoni Inedite’ followed in 2012, collecting songs written during different periods and presenting a stronger singer-songwriter character. His latest album continues that long-running process of musical exploration.
A New Chapter Built on Earlier Foundations
‘LA STAGIONE DECISIVA‘ brings Marco De Luca’s past and present into the same creative space, combining reworked Sine material with newer songs and a keyboard-driven psychedelic rock direction. Its themes of exclusion, prejudice, forgotten people, and media exploitation give the record a clear social focus, while its arrangements show an artist continuing to reshape his musical language decades into his journey.
