Life often throws unexpected challenges—betrayals, heartbreaks, and losses that can leave anyone feeling drained and directionless. Rather than sinking deeper into despair, Dee Phillips offers a refreshing beacon of hope through her book, From Chaos to Calm: 8 Steps to Stress Relief and Serenity Through Christian Journaling. Designed as a devotional journal, this guide paves the way for readers to embrace God’s peace, even amid the most chaotic situations.
Phillips’s own experiences shine throughout the pages. Having faced her share of life-altering storms, she understands how easy it is to feel lost. That’s why she pours her faith, personal insights, and creativity into each step, ensuring that readers not only read about finding serenity but also actively practice it through journaling, reflection, and creative exercises.
A Faith-Based Approach to Finding Serenity
At the heart of From Chaos to Calm lies a simple yet powerful truth: peace becomes attainable when grounded in faith. Phillips recognizes that many people struggle to find calm in a turbulent world, often feeling alone in their battles. Through this journal, she gently reminds readers they are never truly alone when they lean on God’s promises.
Scripture-based affirmations are woven into each chapter, guiding readers to replace fear and anxiety with hope and trust. Rather than merely glossing over biblical teachings, Phillips invites readers to study, internalize, and then personalize these verses in their journals. By doing so, individuals can develop a more intimate connection with God, discovering comfort and reassurance through the very words that have carried countless believers through trials and tribulations.
Cultivating a Meaningful Journaling Practice
One of the standout features of Phillips’s approach is her emphasis on a consistent journaling routine. This goes beyond quickly jotting down thoughts—From Chaos to Calm: 8 Steps to Stress Relief and Serenity Through Christian Journaling offers structured reflection prompts, guiding questions, and journaling exercises tailored to foster self-awareness and spiritual growth.
By identifying life’s “storms” on paper, readers gain clarity on the emotional weight they’ve been carrying. Phillips encourages them to lay these burdens before God, trusting that He can transform pain into purpose. Alongside the written reflections, each step includes creative activities that allow readers to explore their thoughts and emotions in fresh ways. Whether it’s sketching a scene that represents God’s grace or writing a heartfelt letter of gratitude, these exercises make the journaling process both engaging and therapeutic.
Nurturing the Soul Through Creativity
Another key element of Phillips’s method is creativity. She believes that art and other imaginative outlets can lead to deep healing and spiritual rejuvenation. Each chapter includes opportunities to pause, reflect, and create—from coloring to crafting prayers in unique, artistic forms. This creative exploration extends beyond just completing a task; it becomes an avenue for readers to pour out their feelings and experience a tangible release from stress.
Phillips’s personal story underlines the significance of these creative exercises. She mentions times of betrayal and heartbreak when simply writing her emotions down helped her cope, but adding an artistic dimension made the healing even more profound. By integrating art with prayer and scripture study, individuals can tap into a well of understanding, seeing their struggles in a different light and eventually finding peace in God’s presence.
A Guiding Hand Toward Lasting Peace
Phillips’s commitment to helping others goes beyond just this devotional journal. She has made it her mission to guide women (and anyone else seeking solace) through life’s turmoil with steadfast faith, resilience, and creativity. Her passion is evident in how From Chaos to Calm is structured—every section feels like a comforting conversation, gently leading readers toward sustainable habits that anchor them in serenity.
Even the most overwhelmed reader can benefit from this book’s practical steps and genuine warmth. From carefully selected scriptures to the candid sharing of Phillips’s own struggles, the journal functions as both a companion and a coach. Each page calls readers to examine their circumstances, invite God into their pain, and take practical actions to experience lasting change. The result is a renewed sense of purpose, strength to face daily challenges, and an ever-deepening intimacy with the Lord.

Hello! My name is Dee Phillips, and I’m an author, faith-based journal creator, and an advocate for personal healing and transformation through Christian journaling. My passion is helping women navigate life’s storms with faith, resilience, and creativity. Through my writing, I aim to provide a space where women can release their burdens, reconnect with God, and rediscover their inner peace.
Please tell us about your book.
My book, From Chaos to Calm: 8 Steps to Stress Relief and Serenity Through Christian Journaling, is a devotional journal designed to help women find peace amid life’s challenges. It’s not just a journal—it’s a guide, filled with scripture, reflection prompts, and creative exercises that deepen intimacy with God. I wrote this from a very personal place, having walked through seasons of heartbreak, uncertainty, and loss. This journal is an invitation for readers to process their emotions, release their fears, and embrace God’s healing through intentional journaling.
Please tell us about your journey.
The last few years have been some of the most challenging of my life. I faced a painful betrayal, the loss of a beloved pet, job layoffs, and an unexpected season of rebuilding. It felt like everything was falling apart at once. I struggled with anxiety, doubt, and a sense of worthlessness. But in the midst of it all, I turned to God and found solace through journaling. Writing became my sanctuary—a way to process my pain, express my faith, and find clarity in the chaos. That’s why I created this journal, to help other women experience the same breakthrough and peace that God gave me.
What are the strategies that helped you become successful in your journey?
• Faith First – I had to learn to truly surrender my worries to God and trust His plan, even when things didn’t make sense.
• Journaling as Therapy – Writing daily helped me process my emotions, pray with intention, and release my fears onto paper instead of holding them in.
• Community & Support – Surrounding myself with people who encouraged me in faith and healing made all the difference.
• Resilience & Self-Care – I had to prioritize my mental, emotional, and spiritual health, learning when to rest and when to push forward.
• Purpose Over Pain – Instead of being consumed by my struggles, I channeled them into something meaningful—this book is proof that beauty can come from brokenness.
