Edona Misiri is a Fashion Designer and Illustrator living in Milan. Lately, we have seen some of her illustrations in the fashion field, which have also attracted the attention of famous brands and celebrities.
Today she shares with us how she got her start, what inspires her and how she managed to get noticed by brands and celebrities.
Can you please tell us more about how did you get started in fashion design and illustration?
I have always designed, as a child, I designed clothes or anything that seemed interesting to put on a piece of paper. I believe that art is always part of me, and becoming a fashion illustrator was a very natural and spontaneous thing. I always followed many fashion courses or tutorials just to be updated on the latest design and illustration techniques. I also follow all fashion shows and fashion magazines to stay up to date with the latest trends and get inspired on something I want to create.
Which brands inspire you most, and who are the most famous brands for which you have illustrated something?
I am inspired by anything I find beautiful, so I can be inspired by any brand, not by a specific brand. Anyway, I can say that I love Chanel, Moschino, and Gucci so much.
My favorite illustrations for famous brands are illustrations I have made with love for Valentino, Ralph&Russo, Chanel, Michael Costello.
You don’t only design and illustrate clothes, but you also are a fashion lifestyle illustrator. What can you tell us about this?
It’s true. It’s actually a new thing for me too. As I said before, I have always designed anything that I like and inspires me, but when I started to work as a fashion illustrator, I focused only on clothes, and it wasn’t my intention to expand further. It all happened spontaneously when brands of all types or celebrities contacted me because they wanted to illustrate their products, and I couldn’t say no. That pushed me to move forward as a lifestyle illustrator as well but always keeping my fashion style. I want my illustrations to always give a message of a fashionable lifestyle in addition to the real message they must give.
Do you believe that digital art is the future?
Yes, absolutely. I believe we are digitizing ourselves in every area of our life. I believe that art cannot stay out of all this, and I believe it is good. It is much easier to use digital methods to illustrate and draw without ever neglecting the old traditional methods, which still have their charm.
What are the strategies that helped you become successful?
There wasn’t a specific strategy. I have just believed in what I wanted to do and in my abilities. I worked a lot and gave a piece of my soul in every creation I did. I believe that loving what you do and trust in yourself is the best strategy to follow.
