Can you tell us a little about yourself?
I am a makeup and semi-permanent makeup artist. Internationally trained from London, Dubai, and Singapore. Been in this field for over 5 odd years and have been loving every bit of it. I travel all over India, attending clients, and also do destination weddings as a bridal artist.
Who are some of your favorite makeup artists?
Some of the artists I follow and who inspire me are Tamanna Roshan – she is from LA and is an amazing makeup artist. Another one is Preeti Sheel from India, who is a Bollywood prosthetic makeup artist. Both of them have inspired me a great deal.
How is the makeup industry in India?
I feel it’s a very huge market. There is as much demand for it as the number of artists there are. It is also a very wide industry, and you need to choose your specialization accordingly – there is bridal, theatre, movie, celebrity, prosthetic, fashion, and so many more. It is something you can do from the comfort of your house by training students and also choose to travel by picking movie, theatre or destination brides as your specialization.
Do you think semi-permanent makeup has a good scope in India?
Semi-permanent makeup is one of the niche markets in India. It is growing, though, and I have seen a lot of people getting more inclined towards getting it done. It is the best time to get into this field as the demand seems to increase, but not many artists do it.
Have you worked with any celebrities?
Yes. I have worked with 3 feature films as a prosthetic artist and makeup artist. I have also had actresses and Instagram influencers get semi-permanent makeup like Chaitra Vasudevan and Jwala Gutta.
Do you have studios all over India?
Right now, I have 2 studios in Bangalore. But I travel all over India attending clients. I tie-up with various salons, and work on a percentage basis with them to provide their clients with my services. All my travel dates are updated on my website or Instagram.
