Today, we have the pleasure of interviewing Lisa M Shockley, Pastor and Author of The Story Behind My Praise: Growing Up in God.
She currently serves as the Pastor of Greater Works International Ministries. She has also served in several capacities, including the counseling of married couples, the Young Women’s Christian Council (YWCC), the choir, the Pastor’s and Elder’s Wives, and as a Sunday School teacher.
Hi Lisa, Great to have you with us today! Please tell us about yourself.
My name is Lisa M Shockley. I am married to Bishop Travis Shockley. Just celebrated 34 years. I have three beautiful daughters Ebony Nash (Brandon), Latoya, and Taliesha Shockley. 4 grandchildren, Breonna, Brandon jr., Chayim and Layla. I grew up in Kansas City and went to Ruskin High School. I co-Pastor with my husband, Greater Works Church. I love to travel and spend time enjoying with my family to the fullest.
Please tell us more about your journey.
I struggled with sickness, emotional trauma, not knowing God’s marital darkness, and a host of other struggles that our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ has delivered me from. And now, my life is being lived to the fullest.
Please tell us about your book, The Story Behind My Praise: Growing Up in God.
The Story Behind My Praise: Growing Up in God is about my life journey and struggles of sickness, emotional trauma, marital ups and downs, and finally surrendering to God’s plan for my life. And learning to praise God even in the midst of life’s pain. He will and always has brought me through.
What are the strategies that helped you become successful in your journey in Christ?
Sometimes life backs you into a corner where nobody can help you but God. That’s where I was. I called on Him, and he answered me. And as I slowly began to trust him with my life, He began manifesting things in my life. Now I totally trust Him with my life.

My life has not been perfect. But I want all to know that God will reorganize the broken pieces of your life just like He did mine. The only true peace and happiness will be found when you walk in your God-given purpose. You will always feel your best when you know you have helped someone else succeed.
