In the male-dominated STEM industry, Nibras Muhsin talks about her Success journey.

Nibras Muhsin

Today, we have the pleasure of interviewing Nibras Muhsin, a Canadian and subject matter female expert in Software Development Life Cycle and Project Management.

Please tell us more about your journey.

I started my journey as a C developer and database Administrator with the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) of the United Nations after graduating from the University of Technology in Iraq.

Please tell us about what it is that you do.

After working with FAO, I joined the United Nation Peacekeeping Mission in Kosovo as a Java Developer. I was then promoted to IT help desk team lead, where I led a team of 12 IT help desk engineers. I would like to highlight how I excelled in the male-dominated STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) industry to become one of the authorities in this field.

Currently, I am working with Fightpandemics as a software engineer, an organization that was created during COVID to connect people who need help to those that can provide it, whether it is an organization or a person.

What are the strategies that helped you become successful in your journey?

The strategies that helped me excel are being determined, focused, and looking to learn and give/receive feedback from superiors and workmates alike. My motto is, there is nothing wrong with not knowing something, but it is wrong to stop learning and seeking a better understanding. After getting my MBA from the University of Liverpool, I focused more on Project/business Management; hence I got exposure to many facets of the business cycle.

Any message for our readers.

My message to females in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) is to never doubt yourself and keep pushing forward. There is nothing more rewarding than being a positive contributor to our communities and the world.

Fantastic! So tell us, how can people find out more about you?
