Success cannot be achieved with shortcuts – says Asim Rahman, Co-Founder of Uplift Future Academics

Today, we are interviewing Asim Rahman, co-founder of Uplift Future Academics.

Uplift Future Academics aims to facilitate the learning process and make education more accessible to everyone, committed to providing quality tutoring services.

How did you get into what you do right now? Please tell us more about your journey.

I am actually an aerospace engineer by profession, but teaching has always been a huge part of my life. From tutoring peers as a young student to teaching in tutoring centers through high school to now running a tutoring business, I’ve always been actively involved in the field. I didn’t realize I was passionate about teaching until much later when I was in college and recognized the importance of having a reliable resource when mainstream coursework doesn’t cut it. I decided then that I wanted to give back to the student community to make sure no student felt left behind.

Who are your role models?

Neil Armstrong – he was a pioneer, and it takes a lot to be one. It takes courage, resilience, persistence, positivity, and humility. He embodied all of these qualities, and I strive to do the same.

He showed extraordinary levels of commitment, dedication, dependability, a thirst for knowledge and was always true to his word.

What motivates you?

Asim-Rahman

My biggest motivator is mentoring and coaching others. Watching the lightbulb moment when someone understands a concept they have been struggling with, is when I know the effort was worth it.

Please tell us about your company.

Asim-Rahman

I started the company with my best friend in college when we both struggled to find tutors in our area of study. We had study groups and support from teachers assistants, but it just wasn’t the same, and we realized there was a real need for one on one support. We joined forces and started our tutoring business, aiming first at the high school population and then expanding to younger and older populations. We now offer services from first grade through college, and even support our clients through job searches and interviews.

What’s your most memorable experience?

I went on a life-changing trip to Iceland a few years ago – it is undoubtedly one of the most beautiful countries I have visited. Being someone who wants to travel the world, I have no hesitation in going back again – even if that means I don’t get to scratch a new country off the list.

Which social media channels work best for promoting your work? What exactly do you do on the social media channel that makes it work for you?

Facebook tends to work best for us. We post in community groups, which gets us a lot of engagement. We try to make our posts as informative as possible. We keep our website updated with the latest offers and information to make it easy for our clients.

What is the best advice you would like to give?

My best advice for others would be to truly believe that success cannot be achieved with shortcuts. A lot of dedication and hard work is required to get to the top.

What is your favorite quote?

“The key to handling pressure situations like these is to keep yourself steady, follow your instincts, and think clearly. People throw stones at you, and you convert them into milestones.”- Sachin Tendulkar.

What are the strategies that helped you become successful in your journey?

Being disciplined and working towards a definite goal helped me become successful in my journey so far. Being an aircraft enthusiast from childhood, I had made my mind that I would choose a career in the aviation industry. All through middle school and high school, I held the same goal and worked towards achieving it every day.

What keeps you going when things get tough?

The discipline I acquired at Georgia Tech as a Bachelor’s student helps me keep going in tough situations. I really learned how to deal with overwhelming workload and stress during my undergraduate years. Keeping the end goal in mind, it is important to take small steps towards achieving it.

How can people connect with you?

People may reach out to me via LinkedIn. I am pretty active and am open to answering any queries any reader may have.
