Today, we have the pleasure of interviewing Olesya Caron, Founder of ‘Hey Creative.‘
Hey Creative is a web design agency that serves small businesses and startups with the goal to help businesses grow by providing them with resources, and an online platform.
Please tell us about your journey.
I always knew that I wanted to work in the technology & business industry, but I wasn’t sure what exactly I wanted to pursue. After high school, I attended college and was getting my bachelor’s degree in business management. I ended up taking a web design course my senior year of college and immediately fell in love with that industry. Web design and development became a passion for me and I pursued it ever since.
I took several classes and went to a couple of bootcamps for coding and design throughout the years. I also studied UX/UI design as well as digital marketing. I freelanced as a web designer and created several websites for small businesses. It wasn’t until August of 2020 when I decided that it was time to start up my own company. I worked on the launch for several months (because I’m a perfectionist) and launched Hey Creative in December of 2020.
Please tell us about your company, ‘Hey Creative.’
Hey Creative is designed to help small business owners and entrepreneurs in the start up stage. I absolutely love the start up process, there is nothing more exciting that starting a new business and saying bye to the 9-5 grind. I know how difficult it is to start and run a small business or startup, I’ve experienced it firsthand. As a small business owner, you often have to wear many different hats, which is no easy task. That’s where Hey Creative comes in! This company is meant to help business owners not worry about their website, or any other digital need they have! My team and I are also working on creating FREE resources for business owners. For example, I’m creating a worksheet for clients that will help them identify their target market and create 2 personas for them. We’re also working on creating a worksheet where business owners can identify their unique selling point. These are just two examples we do have many more resources on the way!
What are the strategies that helped you become successful in your journey?
There are two strategies that really helped me along this journey, the first one is problem solving! As a web designer, my job isn’t to create the most beautiful and aesthetically pleasing site, my job is to help my client solve their problem with the use of a website. Don’t get me wrong, a good design is very important, but businesses don’t need just a beautifully designed website… A website is an investment and needs to serve as a tool for the company. When talking to clients, I always ask them what is the goal of their website? I really want to know what they’re trying to accomplish and then create a website that will fit their needs.
The second strategy is focusing on customer service! There are hundreds of company’s and freelancer that can create and sell you a website without a problem, but guess what? That’s it, they’re just selling you a website and your experience with them as a customer, might not be so smooth. At Hey Creative, my goal is to always give our customers an amazing experience while we’re working on their website. I know how exciting and scary this whole entrepreneurship journey can be, and that’s why we’re here to help.
