Today, we are interviewing Author Roland Sato Page, a native of St. Louis, MO, US. He has written the book ‘Eating the Forbidden Fruit’ that touches on the journey of him as an ex-police. The book explains how his trials & tribulations led to his being a successful entrepreneur.
1. Please tell us something about yourself.
A husband, a father, and a humble man wishing to share my story. I can’t claim the title as an author until I earn that honor. Sato is my middle name given to me by my mother, who was a native of Osaka, Japan. I dedicated my book to her and my wife, Tracey. Eating the Forbidden Fruit is my first attempt at the literary industry. As a freshmen writer, this journey isn’t about confession and redemption.
2. How did you get into what you do right now? Please tell us more about your journey?
Writing “Eating the Forbidden Fruit” was an avenue for me to manage my depression due to Lupus. After my mother’s passing, I spiraled into a dark place. Of course, my family being concerned encouraged me to pursue a therapeutic method to distract me from my woes. Before writing, I was an established tattooist with a 20-year shop named the Pearl Gallery. Currently, my sons took over the business propelling it to greater heights. Lupus hindered my hand motor skills throwing a monkey wrench into my body art career.
3. Who are your role models?
Both my parents were my heroes. My father a war veteran of 3 separate wars trained combat troops. Mom came to this country, speaking very little English yet made way for us along with my pops. Real-life heroes who paved the way for me. They told me never to run from problems and instead to face them head-on. There’s a solution to every problem.
4. What inspires you?
My family. Everything I accomplish is for my legacy. Living resources for my wife and kids.
5. Please tell us about your book.
The Pearl is the company that I created after my ordeal with the federal system. My book takes you on a step by step journey into my story. Prior to the body art industry, I was a St. Louis police officer. As in Eating the Forbidden Fruit, you will read my rise and fall in law enforcement. Sin behind the badge. I was convicted of federal crimes because of my family affiliation.
6. What’s your most memorable experience?
Witnessing the birth of my children. An experience no father should miss.
7. Which social media channels work best for promoting your work? What exactly do you do on the social media channel that makes it work for you?
Engaging with your audience. Be transparent and allowing the readers to taste a bit of your life. If it’s good, they will crave for more. I followed that philosophy in business all my life. I use all social media platforms; however, Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram are my favorites.
8. What’s your greatest fear?
Not leaving my family resources to carry on. I believe it’s a man’s duty to make sure his next generation has it a little easier than he had.
9. Looking back, what’s one thing you wish you understood better before you ever got started?
Responsibility, I often neglected as a child and as an adult, as a husband and sometimes as a father. My ordeal with the law opened my eyes. I took a lot for granted when karma came and kicked me up the rear. I knew it was deserving.
10. What are the strategies that helped you become successful in your journey?
A down to earth movement. So many of my supporters admire the family-oriented atmosphere. Let them know you value their input and suggestions. Speaks volume as a business professional.
11. What keeps you going when things get tough?
Family is my inspiration. They motivate me to never give up.
12. Any message for our readers.
My novel will take you on a chilling roller coaster ride into my life. A fusion of family drama, humor, and true romance rolled into a gritty story. It’s a question that everyone has imagined. If I was a cop, would I help my family avoid prosecution, or would I turn them in?
