We had the pleasure of interviewing Jenni Lorraine. Here are the excerpts from the interview.
Hi Jenni, Great to have you with us today! Please share with our readers about yourself.
Hi, I am the author of a new series of murder mystery novels, The Sourwood Mountain Series. The Sourwood Mountain Series is a series of trilogies, each focusing on a new small mountain town murder mystery. The first will release on December 17th and is part of a trilogy within the book series.
The first trilogy centers around a little girl named Tessie who believes in all these monsters from folklore and is determined to prove they’re real. She sort of recruits a group of her friends to help her do this, but during their search for monsters, they wind up discovering the skeletal remains of a young woman.
They live in a very small town, so all of the investigation falls on the shoulders of the new sheriff, who is kind of a grizzled, quiet, troubled dude himself. He doesn’t have much luck with his investigation and turns to the kids and their monster-hunting clues to help him solve the case.
Please share more about your journey.
I’ve been writing for almost two decades. I do a lot of ghostwriting for authors in another genre but have always wanted to write mysteries. I’m interested in how a good mystery unfolds itself, and I had a lot of fun plotting this one out. One of the authors I have been a ghostwriter for actually retired from the business this year, and he encouraged me to branch out and write this book, along with my husband, who I think had exhausted his patience of listening to me talk about how I wanted to write it.
What are the strategies that helped you become successful in your journey?
I just committed to writing every day. Even if I wrote very badly and had to go back and fix it all the next day, I didn’t let myself back-burner the project. I think that’s where a lot of artists mess up. They lose steam and set it aside and never come back to it. I committed to never set it aside.
