He hopes to get his stories, Firestone and Assassin Rising made into Movies or a Netflix Series, says Best Selling Author Ryan Carriere

Today, we have the pleasure of interviewing Ryan Carriere, best selling author. His debut novel, Firestone: The Dragons Blood Prophecy is rated 4.8 out of 5 stars on Amazon and is internationally acclaimed!

How did you get into what you do right now? Please tell us more about your journey.

Well, I started drawing when I was young and actually didn’t start writing since recently. I was working full time and kept dabbling with writing but couldn’t actually finish anything. In 2018 I quit my job and hunkered down and wrote the first two books in the Eternal Stones series.

Who are your role models?

I have many role models. Most aren’t writers. I see myself as a bit of generalist ‘tinkerer,’ and I like to occupy my time in many ways. I draw, paint, write, but I also have a strong business and entrepreneurial spirit.

What inspires you?

Life inspires me. Someone asked me where I get my ideas from, and I say everyday life. But the funny thing is that I don’t realize it at the time. I think that I store ideas away somewhere in my brain and categorize them subconsciously. Then once the space is full, it comes flooding out in stories.

Please tell us about your company.

Like I said before, I have many different interests. Besides being a bestselling author, I am also the CEO of my own company. My hopes are to get my stories, Firestone and Assassin Rising made into movies or a Netflix series. I think they have the right mix to be successful.

What’s your most memorable experience?

My most memorable experience was getting rescued when my wife and I did the west coast trail! I got some kind of lung infection partway through and couldn’t carry on. We were at a camp that had no cell service, and my wife sent a former Canadian Olympian, who happened to be camping at the same time as us, with a message to the coast guard for rescue. It is not how I pictured finishing the trail, but it was a once in a lifetime experience.

Which social media channels work best for promoting your work? What exactly do you do on the social media channel that makes it work for you?

I have a pretty large Twitter following, and I post all my trailers on Youtube. But, the best place to get information is on my website, or my Facebook page.

What’s your greatest fear?

My greatest fear is that I run out of ideas for my next book!

Looking back, what’s one thing you wish you understood better before you ever got started?

I had a lot of problems releasing my first book Firestone because I illustrated it as well as writing it. I had no idea it would double the time to produce the book, which was only 8 months for an 80,000 words novel.

What are the strategies that helped you become successful in your journey?

Dedication and being open to criticism. It was hard at first to accept any form of critique, but eventually, I realized it helped me write so much better.

What keeps you going when things get tough?

My kids are hilarious and are the fuel to my fire.

Any message for our readers.

It is very hard to break out as a self-published author, but I know from experience there are some gems out there! Don’t be afraid to read something new, and don’t be stuck with the same old ‘big names.’
