An Interaction with Johnna Sabree – an entrepreneur, hairstylist, educator, and optimist determined to help you win!

Today, we are interviewing Johnna Sabree, a creative entrepreneur, hairstylist, and author. The release of her book “More Than Hair” has become a favorite amongst people of all ages and genders.

Please tell us something about yourself.

I have over 20 years of experience in the beauty business. Still, I believe my most significant accomplishment is being a mother of 3 and a full-time serial entrepreneur simultaneously. My beginnings are very humble, and I know my success comes from my god-given talents and continuous hard work.

How did you get into what you do right now? Please tell us more about your journey?

I became a hairstylist because I grew up in a salon. I am a 3rd generation stylist, and I know I inherited my talent from my grandmother. I began doing hair as early as 8 years old, but I started getting paid for my talent around 14. I didn’t see it as a long term career until I got pregnant with my first child. I didn’t finish high school or go to college, and I knew I needed to take care of my son, and so hair became my passion and means to provide.

Who are your role models?

My role models are definitely my grandparents, they were entrepreneurs and very talented self-sufficient people.

What inspires you?

My inspiration comes from my children and also the beauty of mother nature. I feel joy and love from those things daily.

Please tell us about your book and company.

My book is called More Than Hair. It’s somewhat of a go-to guide for creative people plus there are a little bit of my personal experiences mixed in

I am also the owner of the Manely Luxe Salon and hair care company. Located in Nj, Manely Luxe hair care was created to make hair maintenance easier between salon visits.

What’s your most memorable experience?

My most memorable experience is moving to a new state to chase my career goals only to return in 6 months!

Which social media channels work best for promoting your work? What exactly do you do on the social media channel that makes it work for you?

Instagram seems to work best for me. People seem to like hair videos and personal pics of my family and me. Facebook is ok, and I’m just getting started on YouTube.

What’s your greatest fear?

My greatest fear is not being able to express myself creatively,

Looking back, what’s one thing you wish you understood better before you ever got started?

Looking back, the one thing I wish I understood is the importance of patience. I have always had guts and great ideas but never enough patience to see things develop fully.

What are the strategies that helped you become successful in your journey?

The strategies that helped me in my journey I feel have been learning as much as I can because education is power. Power and confidence to me go hand-in-hand, and people want to know that you know what you’re doing.

What keeps you going when things get tough?

My kids keep me going when things get tough, but also the fact that I depend on me solely to pay my bills is a daily reminder that I have to push through the rough patches.
