Today, we have the pleasure of interviewing Luis Corchon, a Filmmaker based in Downtown Miami. He specializes in cinematic shorts for premium brands and travel videography.
Hi, please tell us about your journey.
I was born with a strong curiosity for the arts, but I spent my 20s building a technology startup. After a couple of decades in this field, I decided to take a gamble and chase my passion for photography. I left Washington DC and moved to Miami to open a photo studio. I wanted to make fast progress, so I looked to team up with other creatives who could mentor me. For the first few months, I worked with creatives who were also just starting. After a few months of making little progress, I started to reach out to the best and finest in the field. I spent the last few months training with the best photographers and filmmakers in Miami. The experience was greater than any institute or film school.
I didn’t know anyone in Miami, and I was eager to start producing short films. During the first few months, I was very active in making friends and developing my social and professional circle. Interestingly enough, the two overlapped, and very soon, I was working on a set with my friends. My circle of friends is mostly creatives – Photographers, filmmakers, models, and musicians.
What are the strategies that helped you become successful in your journey?
Time management and Ownership have been the most important factors. You have to really structure your time and reduce distractions if you want to quickly accomplish your goals. I set routines and stick to them.
