Today, we are interviewing Ann Patrice, a Singer/Songwriter, Music Publisher, Playwright, and Author from Cincinnati, Ohio. She also has a station on Pandora Radio: Ann Patrice-After Tonight.
1. How did you get into what you do right now? Please tell us more about your journey?
I began a few years ago as a songwriter, writing my first song called “Leave You For My Husband.” My original intent was to shop the lyrics in the industry, but decided to market the song myself once I recorded it. At the time, I had no clue that I would go on to write several other songs and branch off into other creative areas.
2. What inspires you?
My inspiration comes from a multitude of others who started from the bottom. And eventually climbed their way to the top. It’s not easy, but definitely possible if you put the work in.
3. Please tell us about your company.
I am Founder and CEO of Stepin2theglow Publishing, a company that began as a music publishing label, and now specializes in several areas in the performing arts.
4. What’s your most memorable experience?
My most memorable experience was my first time in the recording booth to do my vocals for “Leave You For My Husband.” I don’t shy away easily..never been that girl. Still, I was so scared at that moment lol I eventually got myself together and recorded a beautiful song.
5. Which social media channels work best for promoting your work? What exactly do you do on the social media channel that makes it work for you?
I have Instagram, Twitter, Facebook, etc.. but of them all, I’m most active on Facebook because it allows you to post things without time restraints. I generally keep everyone posted on projects I’m working on and upcoming events.

6. Looking back, what’s one thing you wish you understood better before you ever got started?
The frustration and, at times, the overwhelmingness of it all. Those are two things lol..but it goes together.
7. What are the strategies that helped you become successful in your journey?
Brainstorming! I brainstorm a lot. You have to have one heck of an imagination lol..to create great material. My strategy is thinking about it and doing it.
8. What keeps you going when things get tough?
I merely (temporarily) walk away. When those little thoughts creep into my mind to quit, I remind myself that I’ve come too far ever to quit! So I give myself a little “me time,” regroup and come back feeling refreshed. Everyone needs a time out. Trust me, it helps! Lol.
9. Any message for our readers
I’m currently working on several projects. I have an upcoming stage play called “Leaving You For My Husband,” which will be produced this summer. I’m completing my book “The Chronicles Of Yori,” that will be on bookshelves soon. I’ll be shooting a new music video for my song “Broken,” this month, and I have a show coming up this April in Cincinnati..”An Intimate Evening with Ann Patrice.”
