Today, we have the pleasure of interviewing Kavon. He goes by the name “ItsKavon.” He is an audio engineer from Greenville, South Carolina, who specializes in mixing and mastering music.
Please tell us about your journey.
I’m 22 years old. My journey dates back to almost 10 years. I first started recording music back when I stayed with my parents out of my bedroom closet. I really wasn’t doing it for profit at that point. It was really just for fun and gaining experience. I think I was charging somewhere between $5 and $10 a song. As a few years went by and I got older, my craft started getting better. My parents started getting on me about my life and what I wanted to do if I was going to go to college or not. At that point, I really just wanted to pursue music. So I decided to enroll in the Art Institute of Atlanta and major in audio and sound production.
Living in Atlanta was an amazing experience because I met a lot of wonderful people and made a lot of new connections. I also landed an internship at a major studio, which helped my sound improve by working alongside some of the industry’s best engineers. I got to be in the room with some artists that people may never get to meet or speak within their lifetime. And, it was truly a blessing, and for that, I’m forever grateful and humble!! I am currently in Greenville, South Carolina and now have my own studio business, “ItsKavon.”
What are the strategies that helped you become successful in your journey?
Some strategies that helped me become successful in my journey are remaining humble and letting every human encounter be a learning experience. I would never leave a conversation, not learning or gaining any new knowledge. Every person you meet and talk with, you should look at as a new book off a shelf filled with information waiting to be unlocked. Always remain a student; never think you know more than the next man because that stops your mind from taking in new information, and that’s not what you want. Your goal should be to learn something new every day.
Fantastic! So tell us, how can people find out more about you?
Thank you so much for giving us your precious time! We wish you the best for your journey ahead!
