Everyone should have the opportunity to capture the world from their eyes, shares Photographer & Filmmaker Joshua Maurer.

Today, we have the pleasure of interviewing Joshua Maurer, a photographer and filmmaker.

Hi, please tell us about your journey.

It started when I first went on vacation to Asia. It was to Seoul and Tokyo. Instead of just taking photos, I had the idea that I would shoot short video clips and then edit them into a vacation video. It was a great pleasure for me.

Then I borrowed a camera from my father and started taking pictures. I explored my city and developed an eye for detail. I noticed how the street I had known for years suddenly became interesting from a different angle.

I bought my own camera and became incredibly busy with it. I never went anywhere without my camera. Taking photos or videos with my phone was no longer an option. I started taking photos on every trip, and friends asked me if I could help them with a project. They had a band and wanted a music video.

That’s how I got my first video, and my enthusiasm for film and photography was unstoppable. I decided to turn my hobby into a profession.

One thing that particularly excites me about photography. Whenever I look at a photo of myself, no matter which one, I can always remember the exact moment I took it.

What inspired you to write your book, ‘Photography – A beginner’s guide: Capture the beauty of your world.’

As time went on, more and more people asked me to show them how to take good photos with their camera. So I came up with the idea to write my first eBook and to give everyone who wants it an easy introduction to photography. My goal was to create a guide as direct as possible without much talk and with simple exercises to quickly understand it. Everyone should have the opportunity to capture the world from his eyes.
