Get enchanted by the creative brilliance of JAESSEY in the track Not Gonna Lose Control

Today, we are interviewing Jessyka De Souza Fernandes. Earlier known under name Jessyka Finnöy also, and professionally known today as JAESSEY, is a singer-songwriter/writer. A mixed-race young woman who has a lot to share with the world and a lot in her mind, especially about her incredible story, which is not known by anyone yet except for the closest people who know her personally.

How did you get into what you do right now? Please tell us more about your journey?

My whole life, I loved to sing, and write actually. I was always first in class to leave when we had this “write a long story day” as I called it. Of 90 students, I was one of the first to walk out of the class after 1 hour, sometimes even 30 minutes, I was done writing. It’s effortless for me to write, and I also enjoy it while singing, making melodies. However, I was always into the music, but professionally I started around 2013-2014, time goes so fast.

Who are your role models?

Hehe, well, what can I say! I do admire some people, but I don’t idolize anyone. I guess it’s because I am a Christian, and I just changed after I became Christian in 2009, but I always believed. But again I admire some people like actresses and some singers. I will say my top favorite, for now, are Millie Bobby Brown, Mehdi Dehbi, and Hilary Duff. I like their personality, and I have watched them for a while. I do believe they are amazing people!

What inspires you?

The world around me, people I know, especially my own story, what I’ve been through what others I know have been through. So nothing has changed about my motto “I write what I live, I live what I write” because its the truth. It inspires me; nothing is better than honesty, right? I appreciate honesty very much, and I’ve always seen myself as an honest and fair person, but not perfect. I learned that to succeed, you must first fail.

Please tell us about what you do.

JAESSEY has a different goal as an artist because its more like a ministry, helping people through music, lyrics, life story, struggles, etc. So its a deep work and it’s not for all if they can’t handle the emotions, many can find themself in the situation and that’s the goal, to help others at the same time is a job. I do enjoy it very much, and connecting with people worldwide is very remarkable.

What’s your most memorable experience?

Hehe, it’s so many, but I can’t forget my meeting with Sandra Lyng. She is a beautiful Norwegian singer, she helped me get more self-confidence. From my teenage days, I always looked up to her and Margaret Berger, and after 10-12 years, I got to meet them both. It was special for me back then as a beginner in the industry and also because I admire their beauty.

What’s your greatest fear?

Ok, I admit that my trauma from my childhood in Brazil gave me pretty much panic about insects, not all, but some stuff I just can’t stand! And I got some friends who have the same reaction about it, but then again who likes insects, such as snakes and spiders. I do not like them. However, I wish I did like them for some weird reason, but I can’t choose hehe!

Looking back, what’s one thing you wish you understood better before you ever got started?

That I actually don’t have to go to competitions to reach my goal and target. I learned that, if I knew that back then, I would have saved much time! But it was just an experience to be in the idol.

What are the strategies that helped you become successful in your journey?

Working hard in silence.

What keeps you going when things get tough?

I keep remembering that I didn’t come so far for nothing, and my faith helps me a lot through everything in life actually. And I can’t throw away my gifts for nothing.

Any message for our readers.

Stay strong, no matter what you are going through. It’s a chapter that will pass. If I did it, so can you.

How can people connect with you?

www.jaesseymusic.com, you will find on my page email contact, and I try to be social on media, but I honestly ain’t much. As I enjoy more living life in real life than sitting on the media looking at a screen letting people know about everything I do. I’m just done with that, to be honest. *laughs*.
