Popular Acoustic Indie Artist Kris Russ from New Orleans enthralls the audience with his EP ‘Hunting Season’

Today, we have the pleasure of interviewing Kris Russ, an Acoustic Indie Artist from New Orleans, Louisiana.

Please tell us about your journey and your music tracks.

I moved to New Orleans from San Diego, California, to work on music and ended up meeting the various characters. That’s how I came across Jonathan Dolese (KonKrete Studios), and we worked really hard on a self-titled EP, “hunting season.” It kinda followed how you feel when everyone’s against you, and you feel specifically targeted for any minuscule mistakes. It’s raw, aggressive, and emotional.

Ranging from tracks like “I try,” which was basically about what would happen if my now ex-wife would’ve ever seen the things in my brain, would she run? Would she hate me? Guess I got my answer on that. To tracks like “BEG,” which is about how I grew up in an abusive household and never ever wanted to turn out that way. If this is too emotional for some, I understand, but I’ve done a lot of soul searching, and this EP is what came out of it.

What are the strategies that helped you become successful in your journey?

My strategy is just to be kind to people. I’m very big on not judging anyone for anything until they’ve given me their story. We make mistakes; we either learn from them and become better, or we need guidance, and you can’t guide someone you shut out.
