Singer Jake Tuvek wrote the song “Something” for his brother who passed away 3 years ago.

Today, we have the pleasure of interviewing Jake Tuvek. He is a guitar player who happens to sing and express himself through songwriting. He has recently released his song ‘Something.’

Please tell us about your journey.

From when I was very little, I have always had an ear for music. It’s always captured me, but I decided at a young age that I wanted to dedicate myself to it. Through the controversy of that decision, I’m proud to say I am sticking to it.

Please tell us about your song – ‘Something.’

Something” is a very important song to me, more than most, as it is a song I wrote for my brother Jesse. He passed away three years ago, and looking back, I just always wish that I did something. That I made more of a difference in his life. Maybe if I had him hang out with my friends and me more, he wouldn’t have gone down such a different path. This song was written when I was thinking those thoughts. Music for me is therapy. I feel better about things when I write songs about them; even if it’s just momentarily, it’s worth it to have some clarity. My thoughts can be quite fast sometimes.

What are the strategies that helped you become successful in your journey?

I wouldn’t say I have any specific strategies. I’ve just only ever listened to what it is that I want to do, and what I know in my heart is right. Sometimes that is detrimental, though, as someone might know very well what they are talking about, and I may just brush it off. But, none the less, persistence, determination, and a very emotionally supportive family and friends have been key factors to being where I am now and also, God. God and I have had an interesting relationship. Still, swallowing my pride, I can admit God is a huge factor in helping me in my life.
