Today, we are interviewing August G. Russell, a 26 years old Los Angeles based musician and actor seeking to pursue his education in the performing arts. His stage name is “KINDNESS.”
How did you get into what you do right now? Please tell us more about your journey?
I grew up singing and dancing and acting, but when I took a five-year break, a vocal coach told me to stop singing. So, I took up hip hop. I have always loved rap, and I found it very easy to get into that journey.
Who are your role models?
My role models are Drake, Kendrick Lamar, Will Smith, Tupac, and also many others.
What inspires you?
A song that moves you inspires me and makes me want to continue making music.

My in-development ministry is called STRAIGHT OUTTA THE WORD, and it is a division of a larger ministry. This is the performing arts portion. And we do movies, plays, music, meetings, tours, live shows, and also we are looking to get our own building one day. All of these things are in development. I want it to be connected to larger companies like Universal Records and Sony.
What’s your most memorable experience?
My most memorable experience is becoming a born-again Christian.

I feel like Spotify and Instagram are my best avenues of reaching people.
What’s your greatest fear?
My greatest fear is not accomplishing what God has for me in this life and my family.
Looking back, what’s one thing you wish you understood better before you ever got started?
I wish that I understood that talent is a gift and somethings you cannot work hard enough for.
What are the strategies that helped you become successful in your journey?
My biggest strategies are looking at people that have been successful and then imitating what they have done to get there.
What keeps you going when things get tough?
I keep going based on the idea of seeing and hearing my enemies’ plan for my failing.
