Luis Fonsi was born in Puerto Rico and studied in Orlando, Florida. In 2003, he dated Adamari Lopéz. She was diagnosed with cancer in 2005 and has been in remission since 2006. The two got married that same year and divorced in 2010. Fonsi married model Águeda López in 2014, and the couple has two children.
Professional Life
Fonsi started his career singing with a choir and an orchestra, but eventually decided to focus on his music. In the late 90’s, he got the opportunity to sign with Universal Music Latin. His debut album came out in 1998, Comenzaré, which reached number 11 on the Latin Album Billboard charts and produced various hits in Latin America. In 2000, he released the second album, Eterno. The seventh album, Palabras de Silencio, debuted on the number one position and stayed there for weeks, and in 2008, Fonsi’s No Me Doy Por Vencido entered the US Billboard Hot and also reached number one on the Hot Latin Tracks chart. His next hit, Aquí Estoy Yo, won a Latin Grammy. In 2011, he released Tierra Firme.
In 2017, Fonsi released Despacito. This song became a huge hit: it reached five billion views on YouTube, it hit number one on Latin Billboard charts, and became the most viewed video in the world. In 2017 as well, the song got an English remix, featuring Justin Bieber, which reached number one on the US Billboard Hot 100 and stayed there for 16 weeks. 2017 also saw the release of Échame la Culpa with Demi Lovato. He released his tenth album, Vida, in 2019.
Fonsi has appeared in the film Como Agua Para Chocolate and in the televnovela, a Mexican soap opera, called Corazones al límite. He appeared in Taina.

Luis Fonsi has been a fan of Menudo and even auditioned for the group, but was rejected. Later in his career, he served as a judge to select new members for Menudo.
