Business Strategist, Consultant & Speaker from Sydney, Australia talks about his Success journey

Today, we are interviewing Houman Asefi, a business strategist, speaker, consultant, and recognized authority in tech space. He is a business development architect based in Sydney, Australia.

1. Please tell us something about yourself.

I am a husband, father, investor, strategist, speaker, influencer, award finalist blogger, problem solver, life long learner, and technologist with a growth mindset. I have learned throughout my journey the value of honesty and working hard. I believe every person can unlock the massive potential in themselves and change the world by unlocking the entrepreneur inside them. It is just a matter of having the courage and self-confidence to take the first steps.

2. How did you get into what you do right now? Please tell us more about your journey?

I come from a tech engineering background. However, I was fascinated by the power of impact that “sales” and business development has on growth. So, I pushed myself into the dark side of the force and got great mentors. The result is I am contributing to the revenue growth of the businesses that I work with anywhere from 100% up to 300% growth year on year.

3. Who are your role models?

I have great mentors. I learn from all the big guns in this space. In terms of growth mindset, Tony Robbins, Dean Graziosi, and Russel Brunson. In our local market, I got mentored by Wayne Moloney, which helped me learn a lot.

4. What inspires you?

Startup success stories are a great source of inspiration for me. Also, my family is one of the most important reasons that I push myself forward every day.

5. Please tell us about what you do.

As an immigrant from Iran, I learned how to quickly adapt to change and how to see the positive side of life. This is now part of my DNA on how to deal with change and be open to new opportunities. This is now part of my technology sales strategy for those who want to break into new markets and software sales to deliver maximum value.

6. What’s your most memorable experience?

My first failure in sales! Despite all my efforts, customers went with, “we decided to do nothing about it for now.” In B2B sales, especially in Software and SaaS space, this happens a lot as organizations change their priorities very quickly.

7. Which social media channels work best for promoting your work? What exactly do you do on the social media channel that makes it work for you?

Linkedin is working well for me. I am not selling anything on Linkedin, but I use it as a branding tool to deliver my message to people who care about it. I try to create native content on Linkedin to share my stories and help people understand what is going on in sales and how it is changing.

8. What’s your greatest fear?

I stop learning! I am obsessed with self-development. I read more than 100 books last year, and I will continue to learn. My fear is one day if I stop learning.. that will be a disaster.

9. What are the strategies that helped you become successful in your journey?

Self-development and learning as much as you can. I know many of my ex-colleagues that are still in the same job as 9 years ago. I simply cannot get this. My slogan in life is to move forward and move fast. Don’t ever look back. Learn and grow and help others do the same.

10. What keeps you going when things get tough?

Great question, especially in these days that COVID-19 is changing our world. I guess for me, is the sense of impact. If I know that my work is having an impact on others, that will be my big driving force.

11. How can people connect with you?
