Let’s take a journey into the flavors of the world with Food Explorer John Nazari

Today, we have the pleasure of interviewing John Nazari, a Food Explorer, Recipe Developer, Engineer, and Content Creator.

Hi John, Great to have you with us today! Please tell us about what it is that you do.

I am an engineer by trade. Father of two lovely boys and husband to a wonderful wife.

I work full time as a Senior Facilities Manager at one of the greatest automotive companies. My joy is to explore the culinary world and create, fuse or modify dishes with my family. Their critique is my driver.

Please share with us more about your journey.

Years ago, I came to realize that when living alone, I had a choice to either fill myself with junk food full of chemicals or preservatives, or dine out every day, or learn all about the culinary world and start exploring it.

As a child, I spent a lot of time in the kitchen with my mother and learned basic knife skills, and got familiar with the rich Persian cuisine. As I grew older, I became more interested in flavors I had not tried before, and my sister had a lot to do with that encouragement.

I am very well-traveled, and the urge to be able to recreate dishes I tried in various countries grew immensely as I grew older. I liked the idea of having my own restaurant one day but believe it or not, I have a lot of fun doing what I do at work, so I’ll keep the cooking as a part-time home job for now. One day I might enroll in a full-time program, but for now, I’ll learn at this pace.

And now, I’ve set out to share my experiences with the world, as well as learn more along the way.

The kitchen is my sanctuary – my place of calm and creativity. I may look intense, but deep down, I am tranquil.

What are the strategies that helped you become successful in your journey?

I’ve taken a number of culinary courses and continuously read up and watch cooking experts and take notes. The one thing any cook or chef needs to deeply understand is that they are not the best and never will be the best. There’s always a better or different way.

Any message for our readers.

Yes, as I have said time and time again, try and explore. Don’t hold back. Whether it’s in the kitchen or at work, or in life, try new things. Don’t get stuck in your old ways and think of continuous improvement.

Fantastic! So tell us, how can people find out more about you?
