Today, we have the pleasure of interviewing Jodianne, Founder of Blushyn Cosmetics. Blushyn Cosmetics is a new generation of Makeup and Skincare products, which is Cruelty-free, Paraben-free, and Natural. The makeup and skincare products that is not only good for your skin but also looks amazing and feels good.

Please tell us something about yourself.
I am 34, and I am a single mother of two. I live in London, originally from Jamaica, and came to England when I was young. I went to high school. I am super motivated, and my dream is to make a difference.
How did you get into what you do right now? Please tell us more about your journey.
I was working as a beauty advisor then I worked my way to learn everything. I was managing a counter at my job, helping customers with their skincare and makeup at times. I’ve always wanted to work for myself. I always wanted more and better for my kids. And I felt like I could do more. Having a business qualification, I thought I would use that knowledge. During the lockdown, because of coronavirus, I couldn’t work so, I decided to start my own cosmetics business.
My thought was if I can push myself to make money for someone else, I can do that for myself using the same motivation and hard work. Then as I made that decision a couple weeks after, I was told that I am going to lose my job. I was heartbroken, but I realize that was my queue to go.
Who are your role models?
My role models are Oprah and Michelle Obama.
What inspires you?
My kids are my inspiration. Every day I look at them, they make me more motivated to get to my goal in life because I want the best for them.
Please tell us about your company.
My company is Blushyn Cosmetics. It will be launching in the first week of October. I will provide cruelty-free makeup and skincare, and it will be gender friendly. It is natural, with no harmful chemicals, and cruelty-free without compromising the quality. I want my makeup and skincare to lighten everyone’s day. I want to spread the love through my makeup.
What’s your most memorable experience?
My most memorable experience is when my company was registered. I said to myself, “Wow, I am actually doing this!” It was a great feeling because I know that there was no looking back. And, I’ve spent years wanting something for myself.
Which social media channels work best for promoting your work? What exactly do you do on the social media channel that makes it work for you?
I find that the Facebook business page works really well and Instagram and also word of mouth. On YouTube, I have a channel that promotes skincare.
What’s your greatest fear?
My greatest fear is not having any money to look after my kids that, for me, is so scary.
Looking back, what’s one thing you wish you understood better before you ever got started?
Looking back, I wish someone would’ve told me to start my own business years ago. I’ve spent years working for people who never appreciate the hard work you put in. All I got is a pat on the shoulder or a handshake.
What are the strategies that helped you become successful in your journey?
My strategy is to learn as much as possible and learn from others. Network with others in the same industry.
What keeps you going when things get tough?
When time’s get tough, I remember everyone who says that it’s a joke and doesn’t take my dream seriously. What makes you special is how you are going to do it. I remember all those people that I need to prove wrong and also to prove to myself that the decision I made was the right decision.

My message to the readers would be when times get tough, you should keep going, and it is true there’s a light at the end of the tunnel.
