Motivational Speaker Latasha Wesley talks about her debut book – ‘Still Standing Journey of Pain, Prayers, & Perseverance.’

Today, we are interviewing Latasha Wesley, a passionate Motivational Speaker & Author. Latasha has published her debut book ‘Still Standing Journey of Pain, Prayers, & Perseverance.’ A wife and mother of two sons, she has a way of connecting to women from all walks of life. If you’re looking for the definition of strength, you’ll find it in this Woman of God.

Please tell us something about yourself.

Well, I’m a wife and mother of two adorable boys, and we reside in the suburbs just outside of Washington, DC. I’ve been a Motivational Speaker professionally since 2018 and self-published my first book in July 2019, entitled: Still Standing Journey of Pain, Prayers, & Perseverance.

How did you get into what you do right now? Please tell us more about your journey.

Actually, My career background is a Licensed Practical Nurse was quite rewarding, but I’ve always felt like something was missing. Being steadfast in my faith lead me to pray about this found calling upon my life. Soon, opportunities presented themselves, and I accepted the doors that God started to move for me. I now juggle, my children, and my studies in ministry as I continue to motivate and inspire others through my writings and voice.

Who are your role models?

I would have to say all of the women in my life; my late mother, sister, others in family, and acquaintances. For me, it’s not about modeling my life after someone else, but it’s about observing and learning through each one of these relationships.

What inspires you?

The desire to build others up while sharing the Gospel, knowing that I made an impact on someone else’s life.

Please tell us about your book.

I self -published my first book in July 2019 and is available on Amazon – Still Standing Journey of Pain, Prayers, & Perseverance. This memoir is about my personal challenges as a woman faced with grief/depression, unhealthy relationships, love, pregnancy complications, autism, and a cancer scare.

But beyond the many storms, God prevailed!

What’s your most memorable experience?

Last year while promoting my book at a Women’s Conference, I started to feel disappointed in my sales as I could see that the venue was filled to compacity but had sold nothing. Something told me to just pray it through; I decided to give copies my book to the four featured speakers as a gift as I was deciding whether to leave or remain. Within 15 minutes, I had one woman stop by my table and purchased ten copies of my book for her table, and soon after, others followed! God worked it out.

Which social media channels work best for promoting your work? What exactly do you do on the social media channel that makes it work for you?

I use all social media streams and belong to several FB group communities. I try to set goals to go Live as often as possible to reach more people. My best success is coupled with my public speaking at conferences, as I convey and connect with my potential reader.

What’s your greatest fear?

Losing my passion. Sometimes when we accept our God-given calling, we tend to run into opposition (Neg People) that will attempt to demolish our hope. Knowing this, I’ve learned to steer clear of God blocking people, if others can stop you from trusting in God’s path, you’ll adapt to going nowhere!

Looking back, what’s one thing you wish you understood better before you ever got started?
