Author Louisa Mastromarino specializes in writing children’s books, Her latest is ‘Spifford Max and the Cycle Pups Go to Washington, D.C.’

Today, we have the pleasure of interviewing Louisa Mastromarino, author of Spifford Max and the Cycle Pups Go to Washington, D.C. She holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Communications, a Master of Science Degree in School Counseling, and a Post Master’s Degree in Supervision and Educational Leadership. She specializes in writing children’s books and in creating contemporary music and artworks. 

Please tell us about what it is that you do. 

I hold a master’s degree in counselor education and use my educational experiences to write creative children’s books. Spifford Max and the Cycle Pups Go to Washington, D.C. is the first book in this travel and adventure series.

Spifford Max and the Cycle Pups Go to Washington, D.C. awakens a “school is cool” mindset with specific emphasis on historical facts, reading comprehension, and teamwork. The Cycle Pups wear cool colorful leather jackets and ride inventive max cycle bikes. Kids and educators love the book because of the lessons, characters, and illustrations.   

 

What other Spifford Max and the Cycle Pups books are in development? 

Spifford Max and the Cycle Pups Go to New York City and Spifford Max and the Cycle Pups Go to Philadelphia, PA, should be released in late 2020/early 2021. Both books explore the history of these two popular cities and offer detailed illustrations of classic landmarks. Spifford Max and the Cycle Pups Teach Tolerance, another work in design, takes the Cycle Pups to the United Nations to explore various ideologies and tolerance education. What are the strategies that helped you become successful in your journey?

The strategies that helped me become successful in my journey include strong faith and leadership skills, creative ability, and an intuitive mindset. Writing comes from the heart, and a creative and intuitive outlook helps contextualize ideas, formulate prose, and develop relationships with audiences. 

Any message for our readers.

Write! Write! Write! Kids, teens, and adults should take the time to write about what they love. I recommend to children to journal their thoughts and start with basic poems like acrostics or Haiku. Kids love to write, and when educators value their student’s words and creativity, they build student self-confidence and self-esteem.
