Today we are interviewing Layla Harris who is a Qualified Coach, Businesswoman, Author and a working mother. She is a self made and self driven successful entrepreneur.
1. Please tell us something about yourself.
I am a mother of 6 amazing children… 3 boys and 3 girls. I am also a wife, and have been married for almost 4 years now. I am a fun, outgoing person. I LOVE dance, and was once on the way to becoming a professional ballet dancer, but became pregnant with my first child, so I had no option but to give up my prospective career in dance. Nowadays, I save my dancing skills for when I am cleaning my home. I also enjoy to travel the world, experiencing different cultures and foods. Cream desserts and cakes are my guilty pleasure… But I try hard to counter this through exercise and diets.
2. How did you get into entrepreneurship? Please tell us more about your journey as an entrepreneur?
I had my first child at a very young age – 18 – and I was struggling. I knew I needed something more than a regular 9-5 in order to survive, and started to look into different types of business. I began with purchasing domain names and selling them for a profit, which led to me creating niche businesses and selling them online. I later went onto growing seed/start-up companies and really honing in on my strategic skills.
3. Who are your role models?
My role model is my mom. She is the embodiment of a strong, intelligent and fierce woman. She has taught me everything that I know. She introduced me to ‘The Law of Attraction’ as well as business and investment, from the age of 16.
4. Did you read any books that inspired or motivated you in your journey?
I love to read and try to ensure that I read at least one book per week. I am currently writing my own book, which was inspired by many self-help books such as ‘How to Be Rich’ and ‘Think & Grow Rich’.
5. Please tell us about your company.
I am the co-owner of a trading academy, which offers a 1-2-1 tuition service for anybody interested in learning to trade the financial markets. I also run a service called ‘Cheat Tradez’, which was also created for those who have an interest in the markets, but in a more affordable approach. We use top analysts to scan the markets and hand pick information and leading opportunities for our subscribers.
6. What’s your most memorable experience as an entrepreneur?
My most memorable experience as an entrepreneur, was receiving help from Morris Goodman, who was in the short film ‘The Secret’, whilst I was working on a project. He showed me huge support, gave great advice and even helped me with resources to achieve my vision. His influence on my journey is something I will never forget.
7. What were the challenges you faced as a working mom?
Juggling 6 children with business, there are challenges almost every day. The main challenge that I have faced, being a working mom is finding balance along the way. I try hard not to put so much pressure on myself and embrace the imbalance… For me, it’s all about making sure that the important things come first.
8. Would you like to give any tips to other working moms to be successful?
Don’t be too hard on yourself, do what you can each day – you are not a robot! Remember, that most things around you – both family and business – are dependent on your energy. So, be sure to replenish and look after yourself. And give more time to your children, than you give to anything else.
9. Are you using any online marketing strategies for your company? How are you
using different social media channels to market your company?
A lot of our client base comes via recommendation or word-of-mouth. It was testing in the early stages, but it has worked out very well over time. In saying so, we are currently building a marketing team in order to develop our online presence.
10. What’s your greatest fear as an entrepreneur?
I don’t believe in having any fears in business. I have met, worked alongside or been in the vicinity of some of the most established individuals in business and sports, and gained a lot of experience and am certain of what I can offer to any industry. I am in control of my destiny and my faith in God has always helped me.
11. What’s the biggest factor that has helped you be successful?
Participating in mindset focus groups with my mom, every friday from the age of 15 – 19, really helped me to build my internal foundations and also prepared me for the demands of adult life.
12. What are your success habits?
Every morning and night I meditate and pray, without fail. I take action only when I’m in alignment with the goal, and I can have zero complaints about the results I’ve had so far.
13. What do you enjoy most about what you do?
We are very passionate about unlocking potential and changing mindsets. And I love that we are able to help to change lives, for families as well as individuals. Our goal is to help people to gain knowledge and learn life skills, which can be used anywhere in the world! Receiving messages of appreciation and hearing our clients progression stories is something that will stay with us forever..
14. What keeps you going when things get tough?
Knowing that I have the ability to create a lifestyle which I can pass on to my children to positively shape their future. I wasn’t born into a rich family, and have experienced many financial hardships throughout my journey, which played a part in creating my extremely high levels of drive and perseverance. I would not want my children to go through the same financial struggles that I have been through – as much as I appreciate how strong it has made me. I know that I have a direct influence on their futures, and so my focus is to be the best example that I can be for them and to pass on the knowledge that I have on financial principles and living in Alignment.
