Story of success and perseverance of Los Angeles Entrepreneur

1. Please tell us something about yourself.

I love hunting on the weekends when I’m not working on my business. I used to hunt with my dad when I was little, who taught me the values of business since he owned a hunting gear shop back in the day.

2. How did you get into what you do right now? Please tell us more about your journey?

A friend of mine from high school. He told me about the little ads you see at the top of Google and told me they were part of something called PPC advertising. He showed me a bit more about this and from there on, I was hooked. I built a business while living with my parents from the ground up, and after a year I moved into my own place. Eight years later, I have my own firm with 5 employees and hoping to branch out one of these days once I have a medium-sized company.

3. Who are your role models?

My dad honestly. As I mentioned before, he taught me ethics and business sense. If it weren’t for him and his investments into my business, I wouldn’t be where I am today. But if I had to pick another role model, I would say my grandmother for all of the charity work she did back in the day.

4. What inspires you ?

I always wanted a sense of independence and I knew the usual 9-5 job would never be right for me.

5. Please tell us about your company.

Sure thing. I’m the CEO of my own PPC firm. It’s a small company, but my employees and I are like family already. We’ve gotten a few big clients already, and when we run a successful campaign with a good quality score, we celebrate about it in the office.

6. What’s your most memorable experience ?

My first client, actually. They really took a chance on me and the money I earned from taking their business from 0 to 60 is what started me off on my path to going from a sole proprietor to a CEO.

7. How are you using different social media channels/online marketing to market your work?

We don’t really have to do this. We go entirely based on word-of-mouth. We’ve found that the best clients we got were ones who were referred to us by our happy clients.

8. What’s your greatest fear?

Spiders. Kidding, man. My greatest fear would have to be being dependent on others. I’ve never been one to like being shackled to anyone or anything, and I need my freedom to go out and explore myself as an individual.

9. Looking back, what’s one thing you wish you understood better before you ever got started?

Honestly, handling negative reviews. The first one we got at our firm was devastating. Some of my employees were dispirited for months and felt like we would never able to make up for letting down one of our clients.

10. Would you like to share any success secrets that helped you in your journey?

No secrets, it’s all stuff you can learn yourself. I mainly just used internet marketing forums like Black Hat World and the PPC sub-Reddit to gain my knowledge.

11. What do you enjoy most about what you do?

I love it when I help my clients get more customers of their own because of my work. It feels good to know I’m making these businesses flourish in ways they could not before.

12. What keeps you going when things get tough?

My dog Fergus, truth be told. He’s a big dog and sometimes hard to see ’cause he keeps to himself, but he’s always there for me when I call him.

13. How can people connect with you?

I can be difficult to reach ’cause I’m always on the road, but just look me up online and you’ll find me.

14. Any message for our readers…

When the going gets tough, you just got to keep on going. That’s what my dad John (R.I.P.) always told me.
