After facing difficulties himself, he decided to help those who want to migrate to Canada. Meet Adnan Khalid, CEO of FELCUS Immigration Consultants Inc.

Today, we have the pleasure of interviewing Adnan KhalidCEO of FELCUS Immigration Consultants Inc. He is an extremely successful Engineer, professional Project Manager, and a Licensed Immigration Consultant in Canada. He is also an active member of the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Alberta (APEGA) in Calgary. Moreover, he plays a vital role in the Canadian Association of Professional Immigration Consultants (CAPIC).

It is very uncommon to see a successful Engineer in Canada working on a leadership role moving to the Immigration Consultancy business. Can you please tell us more about your journey?

Sure! my journey started back in 2007 when I went to England to pursue my undergraduate and graduate degree in Civil Engineering. There was no concept of career counseling or any reliable, professional consultant in the field of education or Immigration either in the Middle East or Pakistan. The subject becomes even more challenging, especially to those whose parents or family members are not exposed to the international job market. I was lucky enough, as my father was an Engineer and have seen the world, thoroughly guided me on the needed steps when it comes to a career choice. I completed my degree in the UK and provided my services to world-renowned and prestigious contractors and consultancy companies over the last decade all over the world. During all this time, I kept thinking about the people who are not getting quality or reliable advice from anyone despite the talent they have. Then the time came when I decided to immigrate to Canada with my family. During my search for a reliable consultant, I met with so many shadow consultants, agents, and unlicensed companies that one can think of, and after been looted, deceived numerous times, I finally managed to land in Canada after a couple of years, making the pre and post-landing barricades to its peak.

So how you established yourself in Canada after landing here?

As I had no Canadian experience required to give me a breakthrough on a professional job, landing in Canada becomes more challenging. I have a ton of international experience under my belt but getting a job was tough… very tough. I decided to do everything in my capacity to be successful in Canada. I started from an entry-level engineering job, accepted far less salary than my actual profile worth, and kept working hard. In less than three years, I got the Engineering License from APEGA and continued my full practice as an engineer. I was also promoted from a low-level coordinator job to Senior Project Manager in just four years of time frame.

Why an Immigration Consultant, then?

As I mentioned earlier, I never forgot how I landed in Canada, the money I wasted with ghost consultants, the overall stress of moving to another country and starting your life with family and kids. I was fully aware of the unethical business going in full swing in Pakistan and the Middle East, where people have almost no approach or access to Licensed Immigration Consultants who follow the ethical basis needed in this industry. Immigration is a very delicate industry as you deal with human life; hence you must be responsible, and your conscience must be clear. I wanted to fill exactly this gap and want to provide quality-based services to everyone; I want to put weightage on client trust more than anything and established the company’s roots on all ethical required standards. To properly execute my dream, I decided to go back to University in Calgary a few years ago and got my immigration law degree. I worked seven days a week during all this time (special thanks to my wife for always being supportive). I was coached and privileged to work with one of the best lawyers and Immigration Consultants in Calgary before starting my independent practice and still maintain vital network connections with different experts in the immigration field.
