Use ‘Just Checking In’ app to check in on your immediate family and know for sure they are safe

Kala Haynes and Eric Usher, during the beginning of the Covid 19 pandemic, were walking, and Kala shared a story about a single mother found dead alone in her home due to Covid and posed the question if someone checked in on her sooner would she still be alive? The conversation started there and led to more questions.

While everyone is forced to stay home, who is checking in on the people living alone and then it becomes personal because we have family members that live alone. The birth of Just Checking In came alive. We wanted a clean and simple way to check in on our immediate family and know for sure they are safe without harassing them daily. Just checking In sends users 3 daily notifications reminding them to check-in. If they do not check-in, a text will be sent to their listed emergency contacts to call and check in just in case. Now for those with large family and friend groups we built a feature that allows user to share their check-in status, user can invite their family or friends to view their daily check-in status, and a user can see if they don’t check-in and can see their last check-in time and can give them a call, just in case.

We offer users a 14-day free trial, so they can feel comfortable knowing we are a reliable platform, and then it’s 3.99 per month to maintain an account. The subscription that matters.

When we launched, we didn’t expect to receive the positive responses we are getting. We were just trying to solve an immediate problem for our family and friends. I’ve spoken to individuals suffering from depression and mental illness. This is an app that can help many people fighting these challenges alone. To know that if he/she has experienced an episode where they do not want to be bothered but wish someone would check in on them, could be the difference between life and death.

Any message for our readers.

Our goal with this app is to allow users who usually feel alone know that their loved ones are a check-in away. It may seem like a simple thing to just call or text, but at times we don’t feel like being bothered or bother someone, yet we want that peace of mind knowing they are safe.
