We had the pleasure of interviewing Aung Thura. Here are the excerpts from the interview.

Hi Aung, Great to have you with us today! Please share with our readers about yourself.

I am a marketing consultant and have been helping brands and businesses grow over the last 26 years. During that time, I had a chance to work with large multinational brands as well as smaller businesses or SMEs. I also teach Branding and Marketing to working professionals.

Please tell us about your book, How to start your dream business.

I wrote the book for two key reasons:

1) When I started working with small or medium-sized businesses, I began to realize that they were not marketing-ready. For them, marketing was something that they considered low priority, and they used to do it in the end! Businesses that do so run the risk of going out of business because there is a misalignment between their products and services and what people really want.

2) Businesses soon learn that they have issues; their products are not moving, or they are having to compete at a price level – meaning they are always pricing their products below that of the nearest competitors. Something they may not have to do if they have set up their business right.

In helping small and medium businesses, there is a fundamental misunderstanding of what marketing is and how to use that tool. It is sad to see business owners who have invested a lot into their dream business lose that business because they failed to do a few things that they should have done at the beginning – purely from a lack of awareness or know-how. There are a lot of such cases, and in my journey as a marketer, I want to help them.

Any message for our readers.
