Joyce Giraud comes from Puerto Rico. She has two Bachelor of Arts degrees in Social Work and Special Education. Giraud is married to Michael Ohoven, a film producer with Oscar nominations under his belt. They had two sons, born in 2010 and 2011, respectively.
Professional Life
Giraud started modeling as a young woman to pay for her university and quickly rose to become one of the top models in Puerto Rico. She was discovered while working a drive-thru at a KFC. In 1994, she competed in Miss World but lost to Aishwarya Rai. In 1998, she was crowned Miss Universe Puerto Rico 1998 and placed as the second runner-up at Miss Universe 1998.
After winning the crown, she was cast in Corralito Tiene Dos Maridos, a film by director Vicente Castro. She loved the acting and discovered a passion for it as well. She would appear in various films in Puerto Rico before moving to Miami.
In 2000, she was in Star Search and remained undefeated, being the only model to win every episode. She would then move to Los Angeles in 2001 to pursue acting more seriously. Giraud would appear in films such as Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, Dude, Where’s My Car?, Miss Castaway, and Slayer.
She would also receive various roles on television. She was in Baywatch, The Suite Life of Zack and Cody, Heist, and Joey. In 2007, she starred in House of Payne as Angel. In 2013, Giraud got a leading role in Siberia.
2013 also saw Giraud join the cast of The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills, a hugely popular reality series from Bravo. Giraud joined in the fourth season and would become the first Latina main cast member.
Giraud has served as a producer on the film Shadow People and the series Siberia. She also produced Back Roads in 2018. That same year, she appeared in Hell’s Kitchen.
