Today, we have the pleasure of interviewing Manuela Oliveira, a Professional Dancer, Choreographer, and Creative Director.
Manuela is recognized for her works displayed on TV Shows, TV Commercials, Music Videos, and Stage Performances. She has been seen in TV Commercials, Print Ads, Billboards, and Catalogues around the Globe throughout Australia, Europe, Japan, India, Vietnam, Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand, and the USA.
Manuela has inspired many and continues to with her story and passion for the love of dance and the arts.
Hi Manuela, Great to have you with us today! Please tell us about your journey.
I was born and raised in Sydney, Australia, and I am of Portuguese descent. I was born with a natural passion for music and dance. And, after graduating high school (year 12), I found the desire to pursue a career as a professional dancer. So, I made the jump to New York to train intensively and LA for seven years, just training back and forth from Australia to the US aspiring to work with A-list Artists. I surpassed many of my goals with hard work, persistence, focus, and dedication, making many sacrifices. I had the honor of working as Creative Director and Guest Judge on So You Think You Can Dance Malaysia for two seasons, guest Choreographer on So You Think You Can Dance Australia, Performance Consultant on NBC’s The Voice for three seasons. I also assisted Paula Abdul on X-Factor USA.
I have appeared as a Dancer in Music Videos and Stage Performances for artists such as Rihanna on the MTV VMA’s and Jennifer Lopez. I have been a part of many international TV commercials and many corporate events as Choreographer and Dancer!!! Additionally, I have been teaching Hip Hop and Jazz Funk classes globally, online, and in person.
What are the strategies that helped you become successful in your journey?
Surrounding with like-minded people with the same goals and purpose. Removing any negativity from my path. Training with the best in the industry and studying the greats in the industry. I knew exactly who I wanted to dance for and to work with them.
