Her early life and career beginnings

Winnie was born Chantelle Brown-Young to Lisa Brown and Windsor Young. She has two sisters. Winnie was diagnosed with vitiligo’s skin condition at four, making her childhood difficult. Her mates bullied her with derogatory name callings, which affected her self-esteem. After switching schools severally, she eventually dropped out and even contemplated suicide.

Her professional career life

Winnie started as an Instagram model. She became one of the 14 finalists in America’s Next Top Model in 2014 after Tyra Banks discovered her. Unfortunately, they eliminated her in the second week of the finals.

After her elimination from the ANTM, she participated in the Comeback Series competition as a key to return to the competition. At the end of the round, Winnie had the highest vote and returned to America’s Next Top Model, where they eliminated her again.

She began gaining a foothold with her increasing popularity on social media and, after that, became Desigual’s official brand representative. She walked the runway in London Fashion Week and modeled fashion magazines like Dazed.

Winnie’s modeling career was fast-rising, and by 2015, she modeled for the Italian clothing brand Diesel for its spring/summer campaign. She was on the cover of the September 2015 issue of Ebony magazine alongside Fatima Siad, another top model.

She modeled for both Spanish and Italian editions of Glamour magazine and featured in the issue of Complex magazine and Cosmopolitan all in 2015.

In 2016, Winnie featured in a commercial for Sprite and a campaign for Swarovski. She was one of BBC’s 100 Women, and in 2018, modeled at the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show.

Her distinctive looks appeared in advertising campaigns for Fendi, Diesel, Tommy Hilfiger, Nike, Puma, Desigual, Steve Madden, Marc Jacobs, Victoria’s Secret, and Swarovski.

Winnie accomplished so much within a short timeframe. She was a Teen Choice Awards nominee in 2016 and 2017. She won the Beauty Idol Awards and Glamour Awards.

Her other works

Winnie Harlow posted a video on YouTube titled Vitiligo: A Skin Condition, not a Life Changer in July 2011. In November 2014, she addressed the condition in a TEDx presentation.
She continues to raise awareness about the skin condition vitiligo on her Instagram page of 9.2million followers. She speaks about it in events and any opportunity she gets.
Winnie has also appeared in several music videos and television shows. She made a cameo in Beyonce’s Lemonade and featured in Lily Singh’s video called Three Girls, One Elevator.

Winnie’s personal life

Winnie is currently in an adorable relationship with NBA Star Kyle Kuzma. They met on Instagram and connected during the 2020 COVID-19 quarantine. The pair love to share their pictures on their social media pages.
