Naomi Campbell is a British model, actress, singer, and a businesswoman. She was discovered at the age of 15 and established herself among the most recognizable models of the late 1980s and the 1990s, and the early 2000s, including modern-day. Naomi was one of the six models of her generation who were declared supermodels by the fashion industry and the international press.
Aside from her modeling career, Campbell has also embarked on other ventures such as producing an R&B studio album and several acting roles in television and film, such as modeling-competition reality show The Face. Naomi is also actively involved in charity work for various causes.

Early life before fame
Naomi was born to a Jamaican dancer Valerie Morris. To accustom her mother’s wishes, Campbell had never met her father, who sadly abandoned her mother when she was just four months pregnant, and thus her mother decided to exclude his name from the birth certificate. Naomi took her surname “Campbell” from her mother’s second marriage. Naomi has a half-brother, Pierre, who was born in 1985. Campbell is of Afro-Jamaican descent, as well as having some Chinese-Jamaican ancestry through her paternal grandfather’s side, whose surname was Ming.
Naomi spent most of her early years living in Rome, Italy, where her mother was working as a modern dancer. When they decided to return to London, Naomi lived with relatives while her mother decided to travel across Europe with her dance troupe Fantastica. From the age of three, Naomi attended Barbara Speake Stage School, where she was accepted into the Italia Conti Academy of Theatre Arts at the age of 10. She studied ballet there. Naomi started her career in 1978. Being just seven years old at the time, she made her first public appearance n the music video for Bob Marley’s “Is This Love.” When Naomi was 12, she was a tap-dancer in the music video for “I’ll Tumble 4 Ya”, performed by Culture Club. Naomi was very hard-working and studied dancing extensively throughout the age of 3 to 16. She had originally intended to become a dancer.
Her international success came in 1987 when she appeared on the cover of British Vogue magazine and was the first black person to be featured on the cover since 1966.

Naomi is very active on her social media sites, and her Instagram account under the handle “Naomi” has managed to garner 11,5 million followers, making her one of the biggest Instagram influencers living.
She is an advocate for activism as well as sobriety, having battled substance abuse in 1999 when Campbell entered rehab after having a cocaine addiction and alcohol addiction. Although Campbell didn’t see much harm in the drug from the beginning, she has stated that it does suck out that very glow in your face over time and is a very nasty drug that creeps up on you, thankfully she is sober now and happy about it.
