Born on September 12, 1982, Yusuf Gatewood may not have a long list of credits to his names, but his actions must have struck you as overwhelming if you have been a fan of The Originals series. He is the kind of actor who can command the viewer’s attention and made them stick to their screens, even when he is just appearing as a guest or a recurring actor. He is best known for his work as Vincent Griffith, who is a witch from New Orleans and possessed by a vampire Finn Michaelson. He joined season 2 of The Originals for a recurring role but later secured his position as a regular. Gatewood’s guest appearances are a significant part of his television work. He has appeared on television shows including Hack in 2003, Law & Order: Criminal Intent in 2006, CSI and CSI: Miami in 2007. When his first film, Wonder Boys, was released, he was a very young actor, just eighteen years of age. He also made a guest appearance in an episode of the ABC Family series called Lincoln Heights back in 2008. In 2014, he worked on-screen with Lance Henriksen in a horror-drama movie House at the End of the Drive.

Yusuf was born and brought up in Durham, North Carolina, a land where his family has a cavernous history. He received his early education from Durham Academy, a private school in the area he used to live in. There is no information as to whether he or his family still lives around Durham.
Typically, a quick google search usually tells you a lot about any celebrity’s life, but Gatewood seems to be a very private person. Even in this globally connected world, the actor has managed to keep most of his personal life to himself, and he does not appear in many interviews either.
However, what we know about YusufGGatewood’s personal life is that his father, Dr. Joseph Donnell Gatewood was a dentist and practiced in Hillsborough, NC, for nearly 30 years. In his obituary, he wrote that his father was very keen to help underprivileged children and adored his profession. Unfortunately, Dr. Joseph Gatewood passed away in 2009 at the age of 62.
The actor also shares a special bond with his mother. In 2018, Yusuf took a brief trip to Africa with his mother to spend some quality time.
