Who is Rick Hoffman?

Rick Hoffman is an American actor. He is probably best remembered for playing Jerry Best in the popular TV show The Bernie Mac Show (Which ran from 2002-2005). He also played Chase Chapman in Samantha Who? from 2007 until the series finale in 2009. He’s also fondly remembered for playing Louis Litt in the popular legal drama series Suits (2011-2019).

Life before fame

Rick Hoffman was born n New York City and spent most of his childhood in Roslyn Heights, New York. Rick Hoffman was raised Jewish, and he graduated from the prestigious “The Wheatley School” located in Old Westbury, New York. Later on, he went to attend the University of Arizona.
After Rick Hoffman graduated, he decided to move to Los Angeles, California, in order to pursue his dream of becoming an actor. So he enrolled in an acting school and began working on his acting skills. After three years of studying, as well as taking private classes, Rick got his first role.

His acting career

Rick Hoffman got his breakout role when he was cast as a security guard in the American political action thriller “Conspiracy Theory” in 1997. Later on, he received a few other small roles, but it wasn’t until he received the main role-playing Freddie Sacker on Darren Star’s briefly-lived Wall Street series The $treet which was released in 2000 but sadly was pulled from the syndication after only seven episodes had aired, but this role allowed him to quit his job as a waiter and move back to New York.

Some of Rick Hoffman’s later roles include appearing in the short-lived Steven Bocho’s law drama series Philly, where he played Terry Loomis. from 2001 until 2002. Rick also appeared as Jerry Best in The Bernie Mac Show from 2002-2005. He was also seen portraying Patrick Van Dorn on the John Stamos comedy Jake in Progress which ran from 2004 until 2005. He also played Chase Chapman on ABC’s comedy series Samantha Who? from 2007-2009. In 2011 he landed one of his biggest roles to date when he was cast in USA Network’s series Suits as Louis Litt, which ran until the end of 2019.

Other cast members seen in Suits include Gabriel Macht, Sarah Rafferty, Patrick J. Adams, Gina Torres, Meghan Markle, Amanda Schull, Wendell Pierce, Dulé Hill, Katherine Heigl, David Costabile and DB Woodside.

He appeared as Dr. Miles Feldstein in CSY: NY (2005), Lance Addison in Commander in Chief (2006), as John Hinckley Jr. in American Dad (2006), Agent Scary in the TV series Chuck (2007), then he was cast as Michael Raykirk in CSI: Crime Scene Investigation, he also played Gary Lesley in Law & Order: Special Victims Unit (2008), Kelvin Ridgeway in NCSI (2008), Alan Foss in Leverage (2008), and Peters in Lie to Me (2009).

His most recent roles

In 2016 he appeared as the NFL PA Rep in an episode for Ballers, which was followed by his portrayal of Louis Litt in the 2019s TV series Pearson.
His most recent role is playing Dr. Swerdlow in the 2020s series Billions.
